Hey guys. Anybody have any info on Autumn Transport based out of Woodbury Mn? If any of you are current O/Os with them and would care to chime in that would be great!
I have been running hopper bottoms local for about 8 months now. They say that they only require tractor trailer experience. so thus that means i wont need any otr experience correct?
Also 1.01 a mile sounds like NOTHING. I have been reading around and seems like from what others have posted, that wont even cover truck let alone put any money in your pocket. any insight?
thanks for all the help!

If their website is correct, that rate of $1.01 is the base rate and then there is a 17-19% fuel surcharge that gets added to that, depending on the price of fuel. So you are looking at $1.17 to $1.19/mi., which is not amazing, but not terrible either. I am in dry van, and it is not hard to get $1.22 to $1.25/mi to pull a van. Maybe $1.19/mi to pull hoppers is a great rate, I don't know. I would think that pulling max weight all of the time should mean a higher rate per mile than pulling a van, but I don't know much about that part of the industry. Maybe the return trips are empty and it all balances out. They have a nice yard and the trailers all seem to be kept up when I see them. So that's a good sign.
If you interview with them, let me know what you find out. -
thanks tb for the input. ya see what you can get out of the dispatcher. and i dont have a clue what hopper bottom pay is per mile. i am local hourly driver. the 1.17-1.19 isnt terrible but not making too much(of course you probably wont in this economy). any other insight guys? could use some help.
so question! after being 8 months local, am i crazy to give up a local job with decent pay for otr? -
simply speaking from the wife of a driver for Autumn and also from someone who is not well versed in "trucker-lingo", my husband has been driving with Autumn for about a year and a half. All I can say is that they have kept him very busy and the income great. I have been an RN for many years and my income nearly a third of his. Granted, overhead high but well over six digit profit. Autumn has been good to us, and I am not easy to please...hahha

Doesn't Autumn pull smooth bore chemical tankers? If so, $1.01/mile plus fuel surcharge is a screw job... Is it loaded mile only? or bounce miles too? What about trailer washouts?
Typically, O/O pulling chemical tankers can expect to average about $1.75/per mile loaded and empty. With all fees taken out for trailer use, dispatch etc etc.
Of course there will be some gravy runs that will get you much more but a good working average is $1.75/mile. -
