I run 90 steers, 80 on the drives and 85 on the trailer.

Recommend from the weight inflation chart. ( Firestone? )

last steers went 190k with lots of tread left. Drives came off at 360k put them on trailer while I caped the trailers ( spread flat ) at 130k.

    6.43 MPG.

What kind of weight are you hauling?

We're running right at 80k when loaded, approx 26k empty doing local tanker work. Our mechanic swears by 80-85 psi in the drives. I can't wrap my head around it when I'm loaded and the tire looks half flat. So I usually put 110 in them.

Most of the guys get about 100-120k out of the drives before they're wore out. I'm getting 150-170k. Can't really say how long the steers are lasting, I don't really pay attention that close. I just know when they're worn they get replaced.

And the fuel mileage for us is usually pretty pathetic, running a PTO driven blower for 2 1/2 hours a day. Most of our guys get around 5-5.5 mpg in the summer. I'm usually 6- 6.25.

All that said, I'm not a believer in the low tire pressure theory. If it works for others, awesome.

Same here. And makes it super easy to air up a set of duals.

My average gross weight is around 60 000 lbs ( dry van)
Michellins on the steering are inflated up to 110 psi. I had them last well over 200k miles.
All the rest, including trailer at 100 psi.

Even though I check the pressure regularly,
I noticed that most of my tires, lf they go bad they do so prematurely due to my bad luck e.i. catching a bolt on a steering tire or other external damage -hard to predict, hard to avoid - however, I started checking dock areas for nails and other crap before backing up. I've seen a few inconsiderate a holes sweeping out their trailers right in front of a dock door.
