Here's a fine example of a load put out at 16K pounds, loaded by the Landstar Laredo personnel.

Ya but there's a delicious taco shop for cheapycheap on every corner, highly skilled at keeping a driver unconscious in his bobtail.

Wake up, eat tacos, pass out, repeat.

Does Toby's Taco lady in the RV still stop in Landstar yard ? She took over when her husband passed away. I had good loads at Landstar also and good agents.

That was my first and only trip ever to the Laredo terminal.

    Never, ever again.

I'll load out of Laredo, but nothing that has anything to do with the Laredo group or terminal.

Oh yes! And don't forget the cane sugar sweetened Coca Cola. I used to like going to Laredo when I was a company driver. Though I almost always drove north to the Loves in Encinal to park.

I think the Landstar system of using independent agents prevents them from properly managing their trailers in Laredo. They probably don't even know what trailers are where and when.

When I was with LS I learned real quick about getting back out of Laredo. After that first time I would never go in if I didn't have something decent coming out. Found a couple agents that worked with me real good. One had a load p/u every Thursday that delivered Friday In Ft Worth. Was my going home load and paid well. Same with the PNW .

You can always find something coming out, but only if you have a trailer!

When I was at Swift they always had a dozen or more MT's on the yard. That's because they had staff working the phones getting their trailers unloaded and ready for collection. I suspect the Landstar yard doesn't even know what trailers are in town until brokers call them.

Except for that first time, all my loads out of there were loaded in Mexico and so they all came with a trailer. I also wouldn't take a load down there that I had to drop the trailer. No other way I would have went down there

I never saw a taco truck in the yard, but then again I never looked for one. Usually went to the little truck stop down the street. Two fuel pumps, ten truck parking spots, and fifteen people waiting in line at the taco counter.

Could be that, or could be the tacos.

    :p

Meh, it's a good way to cop an occasional 34 for someone who stays north for most of the winter. The 34 might turn into a 68, but at least they have tacos.

    :D

If you haul flatbed you always have a trailer... your own... lol

I’ve hauled probably $20k plus for a few different landstar agents in last few months. Not as a BOC but as an approved carrier. Have only called maybe once or twice and the load was gone and that was one of those late Friday or Monday deals.

Maybe had one or two rude agents. Most have been like working with any other broker.
I rarely go anywhere without checking landstar for loads. Sometimes multiple times a day.
gotten out of some tough freight areas with them at decent rates and been paid well for going into areas to get out of. Like Hillbilly said, if the area sucks I’m driving out. But I’m getting paid to go in so it doesn’t hurt so bad.
