Roads were fine. Few slushy spots. Lots of downed trees.

The guy that brings our wood is in his early 70s. Sold most of his logging equipment but still kept the skidder and wood processer. In the winter wood heats the hot water heater. Same here about 7-8 cords.

I hope I got 10 good years left, we'll see. We bought a 5 acre wood lot a few years back for $3200, don't believe it's ever been logged, it's got white pine 3' at the butt, enough board feet to likely build at least 2 houses. Hardwood is mostly soft maple, ash & elm, with some sugar maple and hard hack. The timber is worth way more than what we paid for the land. I skid the dropped trees out to a header, buck 'em up there, then haul 'em home to split & stack. Plan is to build a much smaller house on it, sell the farm, and fully retire there. I hate to leave the farm, but the realization is, at some point, the taxes will be too much to pay on a fixed income, all good things come to an end, time waits for no man. Anyway, dinner's over, back to planting corn....

Had to go get gas for the mower so I stopped and picked up one of those two year cards since mine was expiring in two days.
