Yeah, three weeks ago, I was sitting at a loading dock, minding my own business when WHAM! A J.B. Hunt driver backed into me. Took two days at the terminal to get it fixed. Then 2 days ago, while parked at a truck stop, a flatbedder with a wide load, scraped my trailer and woke me up. By the time I got to the window, he was flying out of the parking lot. I screamed at him on the radio, but no way... he wasn't stopping. It's getting so crowded at truck stops and loading docks, that bumper cars is getting to be a regular thing. And with companies using point systems and firing people everytime they fart in a truck, drivers aren't stopping to report anything. Even the J.B. Hunt driver who hit me, denied knowing anything about it, even though I had his name truck info, photos, etc.
By the way, your user name certainly rings a bell, since I'm a drummer. Carter is a great drummer.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
I am going to be going to school in January. I thought I had it down where I was going, but I just found out about a new program that Ohio has. They will pay me up to 6000 to go to a school if a company will agree to hire me once I have the training.
So I have to decide if I want to get my CDL first, or got to one of the companies that has training. I have my written out of the way with all of the endorsements.
I will say one thing is constant on this forum, I have not found one company yet that does not have someone saying how bad it is. On some companies, you have guys fighting because one thinks it sucks while the other thinks it is ok.
I was in the HVAC business for over 30 years. On my last job, I had my pay cut over 10% and then I eventually got laid off because I was the highest paid.
I think with any job, if you are getting paid on a regular basis, and you can pay your bills, you should consider yourself lucky. There are millions that are without a job and have lost everything.
I just hope to get into this industry and do my time with my first company, keep my nose clean, and then find the perfect job...if it even exists.
I will say that I have a great appreciation for what Truckers do and go through on a daily basis. I had no idea until I started this journey in September.

God Bless All Of You and Thank you for what you do!

    Jim

Saw a post on the company website that another driver posted, ATS is taking over, purely a rumor i'm guessing, but funny regardless that another driver posted it on the TMC website.

Question(s) for some of you veteran TMC drivers:

I'm considering TMC as a place to start my career. I've got one more week of CDL school, so I'm going to send out my application this week in hopes of getting hired asap after the first of the year. I live just inside the southeast border of TMC's hiring area as shown on their website. In looking at that map, which more or less shows the eastern half of the country as their hiring area, I'm curious if they also mostly run in only that area as well, or do they head to and through the western half of the country as well? Also, living just inside their hiring area (DFW), will my weekends home be more limited because I'm more at the far end of their lanes? Or, as I asked previously, do their running lanes reach further west than their hiring area? I realize that 46 out of 52 weekends home is probably not reality. I've also extensively read on the current state of the company, it's imminent demise, etc. I don't need any more of that kind of info. Anything that might affect me being employed by TMC out of the Dallas area would be much appreciated.

PS- Does TMC have a pet policy? Once solo, can I bring my pooch?
