Nice DOES work...as it did this past week as the first on my own. Actually got into a Sam's Club DC 90mins after my scheduled time...simply by being nice, honest, and humble.

I've since sent thank you cards. Some folks just don't appreciate being treated lke dirt...just as you or I would not like it.

Sometimes you have to kick a reciever in the butt. Home Depot is a 50/50 split of who is awesome and who isn't. Had one guy messing around for a long time, didn't want to take me, so I flat out told him to take the load or refuse it (multi-stop load) and he finally took the load. I was late for the next three stops, but they lightened up when I told them sorry, but I had a problem with store XXX and employee XXX and if they had a problem that they should contact XXX and I'm sorry that XXX held me up for so long.

When they found out it was one of their guys messing around, they kinda got mad and made some calls.

Hi, most times what i do is when on the road, i get like 100 miles from drop point 1, i get on cell phone and tell em im running 25 mins ahead , can they take me, most time they do, most times like menards , i get there , they give me a door er dock, i say theres the bills , goodnight, and knock on the door when your ready for me , most time at menards its my sleeping time so basicly im killing two birds with one stone, so by acceptting that load , that means i unload at menards get my rest and be ready run all night and be all legal, most drivers in my company didnt understand that, same way down in ga at anchor hoking glass 24 hrs too load , my time to rest en laundry there, thats way i use my time at shippers en loaders, most shippers end loaders ask for me by name when they call up my company, best thing is to learn lots lots lots paitaince will go long way, never go in with a chip on shoulder , no matter how much bad day you had, like when i spent 234 bucks outa my own pocket too go across the new yourk bridges five times cause it was a muilta stop en second stop couldnt unload there stop cause they didnt have a forklift and i had ta go back across the brige too last stop and turn the pallet around, they had his in sideways , the second stop ,so they could fit in all the stops, wat a mess,:biggrin_2552:that wasnt my best day, :biggrin_25512: Everett.and being a truckdriver cant speell worth a hoot,:biggrin_2554:

Go in like a good little dog, begging for treats. And be extremely grateful for anything they give you, even if it is a size 12 enema!!!

The same driver that have trouble with shippers and recievers also have trouble with all the other drivers that won't get out of there way. There whole life is filled with these problems and they are just not smart enough to figure out that they very well maybe causing them.

They don't know where there going and are normally late getting there explaining the whole time how someone else caused it.

I very rarely have had problems with shippers or receiver, I normally show up early go in let them know I'm there and that Ill be in my truck. A large percentage I get loaded or unloaded early.

The driver I like has a 2 pm appointment shows up without calling at 5 pm and is bad that everybody went home. I live within radio range of Micheal's , Rite Aide, and Sysco and I hear drivers on the radio alot on fridays wanting to know the closest truckstop because they were late and got held over till Monday. It sucks but it's there own fault most of the time.

But not all of those guys are the morons. Everyone is late at SOME POINT in their life, but theres a difference between being just plain being late, and blaming someone else for being late. Of course EVERYONE who is late on friday and has to wait til monday is mad, but not all of them blame it on someone else.. :)

Well I guess I should apologize for all the times I walked up to a clerk half asleep, and mumbled the (usually wrong) pickup/drop number.

    Sorry.

It happens. I try to be friendly but sometimes I'm just a little out of it. If I drop my notepad at the window, it's not because I'm being rude, it's because my scrambled egg mind can't process the numbers you're probably better off reading it yourself.
