It's more than just the off load they charge for. All the grocery DC's have their own special way they want the pallets restacked.

So a lot of them restack the entire load.

So? I'm paid to deliver the product, not stock their warehouse.....
If they want it stacked a certain way, they can order it from the shipper that way or pay their employees to do that job.

Doesn't change the fact it's bs to begin with.

I just pay them and move on. It's not my money. It's the consumers. I guess I do contribute when I go shopping.

I carry plenty of comchecks for you guys that don't have any.

There's one service that's electronic now. Still uses comdata, but they text you the receipt.

Uncle Sam wants to put it in your ### for 25 cents a mile, all miles, and you guys are worried about lumpers.

And that $25K year isn't going to be reimbursed.

Unfortunately the 2 threads on that issue didn't get nearly as much attention as this one.

One place in Phoenix. "Peytons" , the are some satellite warehouse for Frys ( Kroger ), I've wrote one for $800 at that place.
Dry van. And they are slow as ####. Gestapo too.

The one in Chandler, big food chain, name escapes me, hope you're in no hurry there lol.

Theu used to let people sleep in their big staging area, but of course the pee bottle and sacks of #### gratuities ruined that.

Did all this small carriers local work for awhile. That place was always good for 3 or 4 hours on the clock asleep in the sleeper.

You pay them up front before they even start.

That paying up front is a scandalous thing too. All too often these days, you owe them money code and the check to write it on, provided by you too, before they even start the job you hire them for. I am for the idea that lumpers work for the receivers, not us. Due to Covid-19, I am not allowed on the dock and it means that it is the receivers' choice to use lumpers and by default, I should not be the one overseeing it ... and thus paying for it, either.
It can stay that way. If there is shortage/damage they can call me to witness, acknowledge and certify that I agree.
I don't need lumper interaction. I don't need them. If they want me to be responsible to unload, it should be up to me to decide how I go about it, instead of forcing Capstones upon me. In a way, indeed, it is a form of extortion and/or coercion.

For pragmatic reasons, I choose to compromise and move on too. I don't think I want to pass on the revenue from loads going to Albertsons or Kroger's yet. It does not mean that I should not feel disgusted by the lumper practices either.

You should NOT be paying taxes on any reimbursements as a company driver. When I was a company driver I did my own taxes via freebie turbo tax EZ tax form from my credit union. Your reimbursements are marked as such on your employee pay stubs. It should be a fairly simple matter to adjust your gross down if your company didn't already do that for you when they issued your W2. All you have to do is audit the numbers to see if indeed they included those reimbursements in your gross revenue or not.
