Note: this should be considered a temporary fix!!

1500 Ohm 1/2 watt resistors sold in a 5 pack at Radio shack.

Unplug thermistors and jumper each plug with one of these.

Even if you only use this to confirm or eliminate the thermistors as your a/c failure you'll be money ahead. Much cheaper and faster than finding a shop with the Diamond (IL)logic software to scan the BC.

I've been running my a/c for over an hour with the resistors. I was concerned about using only 1/2 watt but they aren't even getting warm confirming the BC uses a very low current to monitor the thermistors.

Good trick. Thermistors are only really used to prevent the evaporator from freezing up, so that is the only real issue to be aware of.

Agreed. I figure automotive a/c systems been around for 50+ years without needing a computer. From what I can tell all navistar did was add two parts that increase the failure rate and ensure dealer revenue.

Using resistors is only for TEMPORARY use. Installing those instead of thermistors, the body controller will never see any temperature change in the ac system and will allow it to keep running even after the evaporator turns into a solid block of ice. There is no freeze up protection. So you need to realize this if you choose that repair direction.

Can you tellme where the thermistors are located on a 2012 International Prostar with Maxxforce? My compressor keeps shutting down after a couple of minutes. Has plenty of refridgerant.

Right by the accumulator. They both have green and grey wires going to them.

My 06 4400 would not work at all.
    Replaced, thermistors still wouldn't work.

Replaced the snap on thermistor connector combined with a water tight, 2-piece plug on each thermistor... Bingo.

2010 and beyond no longer use thermistors. Yours will only have a high pressure sensor, and low pressure switch and a freeze probe in the evaporator.
