Done......I went ahead and checked for updates after updating the dock. Then I tried to send the tell rand data but now I get an error message that says TND Dock has encountered an Error Saving Tell Rand Data.
If this problem persists please contact customer service.:biggrin_25512:

oops.... on your computer is a folder called logs. look for the date that you got the error, if yesterday then look for that date. Attach that file to an E-mail and send to me.

    rmleadbetatester at gmail.

I forwarded your post to Rand.

    Thanks,
    Mark

POI's - if you are not seeing POI's during a search or showing limited POI's when POI's in device settings is set to on.

Suggest you connect your TND to your computer, it should show connected. Once connected, look at your drive directories and you should see a drive called Intelliroute. Look for the folders Navi and RM.

Under the RM folder are two folders called Data and User. Delete the Data folder only. Then start the TND Dock up and let it rebuild the RM\data folder.

Some file transfers are being corrupted during the drivers downloading. RM is not sure how that is happening, but they are putting in some more error handling for file transfers.

Also, if you could, on your computer, under C:\logs, (you would have to exit the TND Dock via the bottom right of your monitor in the start icons) send the files and on the unit under the root, send the NaviInfo file... send to rmleadbetatester at gmail.

    Thanks,
    Mark

picked up my GPS this week, had to get it at the local Pilot t/s. I tried to get it at Freightliner in Charlotte NC since I was already getting parts there. Apparently although the dealers are listed as distributors, this is not an item they have in their inventory supposedly due to RM not supplying them. Yet they are being called by RM asking why they aren't selling any. Parts guys said people have asked for them and they have had to go elsewhere. May want to pass that up to sales and support.

After an overnight charge the unit will not run on any internal battery power. Starts to power up and dies. I read another post I think about short battery life but didn't expect this.

Maps ... there is too much difference between the zoom levels. Without being in a route I get a 2mi increment with no side streets, just main roads, and then next zoom level in shows 250ft which is the first time I can see the roads around me in detail. Maybe I'm spoiled with my old Garmin Street Pilot III but road detail came in at the .8mi zoom level, and the zoom was incremented by a factor of approximately 1.5. Personally I want to see the maps, I never depend on any GPS (other than aviation) for routing me. So while I am impressed with, and want, many of the other features this unit has, I am disappointed in the map presentation for now.

Everything else is nice and I'm sure I will get a lot of utility out of this. If the zoom levels can be closer together and start to show road detail sooner that would be a great benefit. I want to make my own decision if I have to detour off a roadway around a wreck. At the 250ft level you cannot really see the surrounding area, and going out one level all detail is lost. 1mi, .7mi, and .4 mi would be my recommendation, and more would be better.

Other than the map detail and battery life I'm please. I suspect the battery itself has issues. Also this is the model with the SD card. I wasn't able to open the box and check the model before purchasing, so I'm wondering if I'm missing out on anything by not getting the updated version.

no no no... you have a bum unit. Where did you buy it from? I live about 50 miles from Charlotte.

Battery takes two hours to charge when you first get the unit and then should stay on for 30 minutes.

I am passing the info on about Freightliner..

    Thanks,
    Mark

Got it at the Pilot truck stop, Statesville Rd exit on 85 in Charlotte.

Had unit plugged into my pickup truck while doing work on the FTL for a couple hours, wasn't turned on just charging. Then plugged it in overnight with AC charger at home.

Did all the TND dock and unit updates including full backup before doing the first update. Didn't realize that was going to take so long!

Just take it to any Pilot with the receipt,, tell them the battery charging is bad.

It should only take 2 hours on AC\DC at the most to put a full charge.

BTW... love that Pilot... tighter than a you know what to get into to fuel..

    Thanks,
    Mark

Tried it again just now and it went through just fine. I think it must have been my internet connection as the reason it wouldn't work before.

    Thanks

I totally agree about the map presentation. I 'm used to running my gps at the 2mile level to get enough surrounding area showing so I can make my own descisions but the TND really limits you by only showing major roads at the 1mile and then jumps out to a whopping 5miles which I think is way to big of an increment. :biggrin_25510:I think it is because they're trying to use 2 parallel lines to show a road and at the bigger increments should just show 1 line.
