Well I dont see how it could be the back bone when there were only 48 company trucks and about 52 O/O but the division did make over a million in profit in 2008.

 

HI s2b, so I have read on a few posts that some guys are able to get close to or around home for their 34 resets , or some have said they are able to stop by home when close, is this ok to do with w/s ? I know the truck has to go to terminal for hometime but does or are the 34's a little easier to get to see family? when close or maybe its just that they are close to home so the wife and kids come to them at wherever they are. I assume they are not taking the truck to their house? BUT in reality I would imagine unless a person is running a regional or local run-- the chance of being close to home is kinda rare on a 34 reset.

 

You will take resets all over the country. Learn how to recap good too, that way you can balance the slow and busy days and keep moving to make money. If seeing your family is a high priority.. this isn't a slam but I must SAY: look for another line of work or get into something local because it will be very difficult to make visiting them often. You'll waste a lot of money on that 4 week school if you dont believe this entering the OTR world.

 

Never thought I'd see the day a lease/to own would come at W/S. How does it work? They have decent trucks once you're their for a while, but who would want the stuff that's been beat on hard by the new guys getting down the rythym?? lol.

HI TSTONE - warpdrvr recently posted that the 30 day school is stopping?? but anyway part of the testing to get in there is a "pyshical abilty" or something like that. not sure how much mobility u have since your back operation but I would check into it. I think you have to lift a certain amount of weight to chest level and crouch for 3 minutes etc , soon2betrucking is a driver for them and knows alot about the company, try finding some of his posts. also Lynchmob did a extensive post on his 30 day traing their at missoula, it also has alot of info in it. good luck to you - keep on truckin

 

ok, we do touch freight, and you are expected to do just that... not always, but id say a good 40% is touch, but that also depends on where you are...
as for you back... i dont think it has to do with touching freight, but the landing gear, hooking to a trl, pre-triping, chaining, assisting during the loading/unloading.... eh...
