Compared to what most of us spend on equipment, it's a drop in the bucket :)

FYI: Midland is coming out with a new model GMRS radio this summer.. I'm hearing the new model will be MXT-500, it will be 50 Watts and include the NOAA Weather frequencies..

How many local people have you talked to? The thing about CB is you can talk to local operators about traffic conditions or police reports and the like. Have you gotten any utility out of it you couldn't get from an online chatroom?

I have talked to two people, one in Roseville on a handheld, and another in Sacramento (mobile). Both contacts were via a Repeater on 462.650 MHz..

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Literally as soon as I got everything figured out and turned on my little 5 watt GMRS walkie talkie just started blowing up with folks talking. I couldn’t even get done figuring out the features. I had to take the antenna off to get it all set up. Evidently it was repeater traffic because they didn’t respond back to me when I tried talking to them. But I’m hooked up a Big Boy now. A mobile in the truck. :)
I’m off I85 in north east Georgia.

I’m going to run both GMRS and my big CB. With the scan on the GMRS it shouldn’t be difficult to listen for highway information.

    Timin770 Thanks this.
