This post is more geared toward company drivers... But some newer O/O may need to know as well.

If you have been feeling ill lately, it may just be your cabin air filter. I know many of those big fleet trucks don't change those things. My Peterbilt use to be a fleet truck before I bought it. Never bothered with checking the cabin air filter until today.... This is what I found!

This what one should look like.... The new one I put in.

So if you have been feeling ill, you may want to take a look at what your breathing! I've been sick for well over a week! Second time in a month that I've been sick. I'm already feeling better just knowing that I am no longer breathing what ever was in that filter!

The only one I have for the cab is under the glove box... But I should have one for the sleeper also. I'm getting out my handy dandy flash light right now & gonna go look!

Yep, if you look in your book. It has it in the PM(preventive maintenance) section by so many miles to change it. I know the last company truck I was in. I was getting sick and went straight to that filter. I was not happy having to fork over my money for this but it sure made me feel better.

Are you asking about a repair book? Something like a hainess or chilton's manual? I would love to find one of those.

I'm still researching the cabin air filters. I found the following 2 sites that supply part numbers. The second link also shows you where the filters are located on each truck....

Hey REDD, Whenever I get a new truck the first thing I do is block the fresh air vent...Completely seal it off. The primary reason I do this is because of the amount of dust that comes through the vent even with a fresh filter. If I need fresh air I'll just open the window a little bit.

In a Volvo there is also a seperate filter for the bunk fan, under the bunk, and if you have an APU unit there should be one for that blower box as well.
