I read that if you’re homeless, a normal driver can simply use a P.O. Box for an address. But you can’t on a cdl license, or so I read. Do OTR drivers use the address of their employer? I’m not an OTR driver (local driver driving dump trucks), so I wouldn’t be able to do this (I live in Georgia).
Right now I’m renting, but have contemplated sleeping in my vehicle to save money on a large down payment on a home, maybe even pay cash. Like Dave Ramsey says, you have to live like no one else so you can live like no one else.
Address on license if your homeless?

A lot of full-time RV'ers choose South Dakota. I think legally you have to spend one night per year within the state borders(save receipts).
Texas is another state but you need an actual address at an RV park that also provides mailbox services. A few people have posted here that they got a UPS mailbox which has an actual address rather than a P.O. Box and were able to get a license at the DMV, but I wouldn't guarantee that the state of Texas won't crack down on that sometime in the future.lovesthedrive Thanks this. -

A little life hack which may or may not help: when listing your box as an address, you don't have to call it a box. In fact I recommend you don't. Just use the # sign or the word "number" or "unit" - you're technically not lying. But even if you lie and call it "apt" or even "suite", the mail will still go to your box.
This trickery could make the difference in whether or not you get accepted at the DMV. In some cases the only way they know it's a box is if you tell them. So don't.Last edited: Jun 14, 2021

@Wasted Thyme Should chime in here. He too was homeless before turning commercial miles.
