Dang right I got home this afternoon and had to have to usual talk with patsy about us being civilized folk and we don't live like pigs ...now get ur arse to work you've known for 4 days I'd be home today ill be in the garage.
But dam it hot in here !
Somebody took out the windows and enclosed them when this area was a war zone but the frame work was still there , perfect place for my spare window unit I have from a semi truck generator experiment years ago so out came the Sawzall and it looks pretty good ...works good too.

Hey, that's a pretty novel idea there. An air conditioned garage. Nice. Now if someone can help me figure out how to air condition my garden so it's not so hot out there when I'm working in it we will be millionaires. BTW wanted to ask since you were talking about meat factories, is IBP in Lexington, NE still in business? Just wondered since I hauled a few loads out of there back in the day when I worked for Trans- Western Express out of Denver. They would deadhead us there and also to Liberal, KS to pick up loads. Must have paid good to deadhead that far, that was back in '95 too so things were a bit different I'm sure.

Well first of all being an old meat hauler so no disrespect intended liberal ks is national beef ...dodge city is also national beef along with a Cargill beef plant
.
The ibp brand is still alive and well although ibp was purchased by tyson foods in 2001 .
Not sure what year but you may remember Excell Beef whose name still lives on but they were purchased by Cargill years ago .
The former ibp beef plants at Lexington ne and Dakota city ne live on under tyson ownership with the packaging and boxes carrying the ibp name.
Dakota city and Lexington have been expanded extensively and last I knew between the 2 of them could kill 10000 head a day .
My info is dated as I don't haul much fresh beef anymore .
Tyson , Cargill also own ibp and excells former pork plants and its marketed under the ibp and Excell brands .
The above mentioned are all choice packers and I haul a little pork for tyson out of the perry iowa plant ...a little out of Lexington Nebraska .
That moves us to prime beef packers in omaha which are Nebraska beef and greater omaha ...I haul a little greater omaha but very little as they are a pita and no Nebraska beef .
I forgot to mention jbs packing and they are a packer that is all over the map slaughtering everything from utility cattle to choice beef...I do a little out of the omaha plant witch slaughters utility cattle but it's few and far between and I'm not sure if they even slaughter pork other than at beardstown Illinois .
I got windy lol. And only touched on what I know which is dated.

Well, thanks Brad for the thourough reply. I forgot to mention that Liberal, KS is indeed National Beef as I spent about 14 hours there one time getting one of those wonderful floor loads. Delivered that to Syracuse, NY. Next few times I was in there were drop and hooks, usually going to NJ. I don't remember Excell off the top of my head but do remember Cargill and JBS packing. Can't remember where I picked up at JBS, possibly Lexington, NE but could be wrong since that was about 25 years ago. Those meat loads always got me home since I live in western PA. Haul them out to Jersey then deadhead home. Got stuck in Lexington one time with another one of those aforementioned floor loads so remember those IBP boxes very well. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane....Paul

It's gotten better with elogs but packers are ###### with no concern for the driver and I have little use for them other than pushing the rate till they say no.
As said I haul very little fresh meat these days and if I do it's on my terms .IH Truck Guy, 4mer trucker, Dale thompson and 6 others Thank this. -
We take Ne beef loads to NE but, I hate hauling those loads. There all multi drop loads to restaurant Depot, and those places can suck.......badly.

Christmas of 1990 my oldest brother shows up pulling a older Great Dane motor wagon. My Dad asked him if that was the worst one he could find. Without missing a beat bro replies #### right half of it’s yours and I hate for your cranky ol ### to have anything good. Any way long story short they pulled the unit off and hung it on the wall of Pops shop. He said no use I never use the #### thing. Seems it was about July that year I came a rollin in and the shop was shut up tight. I just figured he was out truckin till I heard that thermoking rattling.
