exactly, great advice. One thing people need to understand, if you hit a run-a-way truck ramp, the tickets/fines/bills add up quickly. In Colo., if you loose your brakes and hit that truck ramp: 1. the tow bill starts at $1,000, 2. the minimum citation is Careless driving, that's before they DOT your truck and you

there is ONE grade in all of the united states that has a runaway truck ramp exception. it's the southbound us95 grade coming into lewiston, id. top of the grade is a weigh station. there's more than 6 runaway ramps down the grade, and it's all hairpin curves and s-curves. if you have to use it, you will NOT be fined for using one of the many ramps along the way.

all the trucks I see going up or down mountains in in Greater Los Angeles area with flashers on and you say it is illegal, huh ? really? i guess I missed that in the manual. and NO i am not being a smart ### , is it really illegal? A family was killed on the Cajon Pass about a month ago- the driver rearended a semi going up the pass? I wonder if he had his flashers off and the driver didnt realize the truck was only going about 30, arnt flasher suppose to be a warning signal so other vehicles know they are coming up on a slow or disabled truck or auto? I hae used flashers aloto in my big RVC when I hit a grade pulling my trailer and my RV cant top 35 mph, r u saying this is illegal??

4 way flashers in California are for STOPPED vehicles... It is up to the officer but Yes it is against the law. On hills there are highway warning signs that warn vehicles Slow moving trucks ahead.

Ok thanks. Still seems wrong that a very slow moving vehicle that is traveling 40 mph under the speed limit ( whether or not there is a slow moving vehicle sign) Is Unlawful to use their "hazards" or "flashers" in this case. But then again Cali has all kinds of rules that are different. Still makes me want to use them ( unless there is a speacial " slow moving vehicle " LANE. Thanks for reply. Now I know evrytime I encounter this on the freeway wether me or someone else it's gonna make me wonder. What the best to do. LOL

there are a c r a p ton of laws california has passed throughout the years that aren't ever enforced. i used to have my bicycle on the back of the tractor. i've been across all of the major scales in cali and they never even said a word about it. i know they could see it. i doubt the hazard lights law will ever be enforced. did you know that spitting on a public sidewalk is illegal in california? yes, it's in the books and it's another absurd law that isn't enforced.

sorry" to say this so...blunt! but if you are asking this kind of question...while out there in it. YOU ARE WRONG! insofar as: you are a accident...going to happen! not a question of if! only where! Don't hurt yourself! or anyone else! Mountain's and snow and ice are "Hell"! it takes SKILL! EXPERIENCE!and NERVE'S! learn your mountain's in decent weather-learn your bad weather condition's...in flat grade situation's and most importantly...tell" your company/dispatch about your...inexperience/concern's! No load/job is worth getting into "that kind of accident! There is no" greater Danger out there; than: Mountain's-Ice-and inexperience! Be safe!!!
