Well, I am just about fit to be tied at the moment. Got back to Colwich about 2:15. Sat there for a good half an hour, and a truck pulls up. Guy says "we ain't gonna unload you today, go home!"

Apparently somebody knocked over a fire hydrant there late one day last week, and they "think" because it was dark out the driver didnt see it. So... Now they are putting a strict 5:00 cut off time for grain trucks.

What is going to be worse. The old man who told me all this was figuring 15 minutes per truck to unload, and that's if everything goes just right. Rest of the guys were saying its more like 25 minutes. If they adhere to that 5:00pm cut off they will have to cut off several trucks that will have sat there for more than 3 hours.

Im thinking there will be a blood trail out there tomorrow morning.

wheathauler, I have seen sun valley out there today, but cant recall if I had seen a mueller truck or not.

We just don't have anything else to do at the moment. All of our private contracts are caught up, so were stuck with the masses at the moment. Its gonna be real rough till Christmas for me.

Did you unload your load somewhere else? I have been there before in early morning and they said they they wouldn't unload us that day. Luckily I got to go to Debruce to get the load off. If it's busy and 5 pm cut off might as well figure one load for the day. Sometimes they would tell you not to come back after just one load. I hauled there for 5 or more years I know what you're going through.

Thanks for information on Sun Valley I was just curious. I know why the fire hydrant got hit if you still have to come off and on that one scale. It's too darn close to that scale, surprised they haven't hit it before now. Good luck at Colwich you'll need it, that place is a mess.

Its about 8 here, and we got an ice storm last night, so I still haven't gotten to the city to get hubbys gift. I'm going tomorrow, though, roads should be better by then.

It wasn't that hydrant (I thought the same thing when I first heard) it was actually the hydrant by the pit. When you back out its along your passenger side next to those poles that wrap around the steel bin. If they had just stayed straight it wouldn't have been an issue. My guess is they were trying to avoid the 3' deep drop off at the end of the pavement as your backing out. The pot holes are just ridiculous out there.

No I didnt get a chance to unload anywhere else. I got a grand total of one load dumped today. Probably the worst day $$$ wise since I have started hauling grain.

I was the 17th truck in line x20 minutes a truck. I should have just went home when I did the math on that one lol. The good news! We are doing the same thing tomorrow... I may just get that preload dumped, and then go get some work done on the truck. I got a drive tire needing replaced, and a drive wheel seal that weeps. Plus I purchased a set of Crossfire dual tire equalizers that I need to get installed. Just didnt want to do it when it was zero degrees outside.

Slow day again today. Looked at some loads either too much deadheading or nothing coming back.

Well, if the load pays enough I don't mind waiting. What's bad if the load isn't paying much and you sit in a long line. It's not as cold as last night around 18 supposed to get into 40's tomorrow. I like the cold smiley on your post...I've felt like that last few days.

After day two at Colwich, I called it an early day today lol.

Had a new/used drive tire installed. Got a drive wheel seal fixed. Installed the Crossfire thingies, and am all ready for bed. I even brought the truck home tonight so I could plug it in over night.

3am is gonna come mighty early, but at least I dont have to go to Colwich. Woohoo.
