A Dealership in Indiana Sold me a Truck and sent me a Copy of a Title. I tried to go get my plats and wasn’t able to do so due to not having an original valid title. So I didn’t know I didn’t have the correct title until 44 days into my 45 days temporary plats. They never got the title from the company they purchased truck from. Now her I am, I paid 40k cash for truck, put a couple thousands dollars into the truck, and now haven’t been able to make any money for the past 8 days. How do you think this issue should be resolved?

So you waited until the last couple days to put the title in your name and this bit you in the .....
What did the dealership say when you called and talked to them about this?Jarhed1964, Rideandrepair, rachi and 3 others Thank this. -
They trying to figure out how they may can retrieve the title. If not they said they could give my money back or transfer it to another truck. Problem is I have money tied into truck, plus there is not a truck I’m interested in on their lot that’s in that price range. If get my money back a process on finding a another one and getting back running. So I’ll lose out over their mistake.

In Illinois, if you got a 45 day temp. You get the permanent one at the same time. The place that does my plates deals directly with the state

Go to your state dmv, and apply for a ‘replacement title’. It will cost a few bucks. Also find out if your state can do a title history search for your truck. There are companies similar to ‘CarFax’ that are designed for commercial vehicles, that may also be an option.

This is all on you. You laid down cash before seeing a valid title and verifying the proper paperwork has been done to transfer it to you. Also waiting till the 44th day of 45 is all on you. The dealer may have been involved but you let them do it

If there is a lein on the title. The previous owner used the truck as collateral on a loan. OR The truck was stolen. You have problems. May lease the truck on and run on their plate.
Rideandrepair Thanks this.
