And folks wonder why they’re paying more for product in the stores as well… The general public are clueless as can be and this is only gonna get worse unfortunately

We’re supposed to be getting a pay raise on our haul to compensate, but it never comes for some reason. If it gets to $4 with no pay raise I’ll be finding other work. Actually if it gets much higher at all I will unless they start paying us O/O’s better.

Unfortunately, the fuel is cheap only when the rates are also.
Therefore I love high fuel prices!

That's still cheaper than what we've been paying the last year or 2.

Exactly. Most of last year I paid around $2.00.

As long as they pay what we want them to...

About 16 000 gallons of diesel per year for a solo o/o on 100 000 miles.
$2.0/g vs $3.0/g equates to $16 000 more in fuel cost.

Slow freight market (e.g $1.50 - $2 dol per mile) vs Good freight market translates to at least 50c per mile which is $50 000 difference in revenue, on the same mileage. The last 12 months have been way better than that (it is described not only as good but excellent and record high) it is not an exaggeration to say that as much as $80 00 - $100 000 more in revenue vs a mediocre year such as 2015 - 2017, or 2019. The $16 000 becomes much smaller in that perspective.

I'd rather deadhead than run under $2 a mile. I'll let the truck sit first. For $1 in profit a mile, I'd rather not have the risk of a cargo claim.
