Stuck at TSC in Macon GA on a Swift load , Any advice?

It is a good thing to have own invention and try to make it work around the broker. I think the way it works is that they have a computerized scheduling system that assigns appointments and they can be booked for the whole week ahead but when a truck or two would not show up or for some reason or they would finish unloading someone earlier than expected, then maybe there is a chance to work someone in - that's what a Walgreen manager told me. But then it is up to the manager and his mood.

 

Look them up on google? They'll probably have a receiving department, or shipping and receiving if it's a smaller facility.

 

I would call the DC and/or show up at the receiver and see what they say about working you in. I know everybody has their appointments and they're all understaffed but #### man there's a lot of products out here that aren't on the shelves whenever I go to a store. If you talk to people in any line of business outside of trucking all they talk about is either rising costs or how they can't get stuff they really need, never mind hiring help. Maybe you got some widgets that Tractor Supply desperately needs. You're less than a couple of miles from them with nothing to lose by driving on over there.

 

buddy, this situation sucks but keep in mind that it rarely happens. You kinda had a trifecta of bad luck. Break down, on a long load with a strict appt, and running for a broker that may or may not be doing everything in their power to help you. I can't bash Swift here. Could be a new agent with them who doesn't yet know how to pull strings.

When the dust settles get back on the horse and make some money. You will learn a few lessons from this one.

i have my own number as well. I however don’t haul general freight or use brokers. I beat on doors and wore phones out to build a customer base before buying my truck. It has served me well over the years.

one thing i can say is that with such a close business relationship, my customers are very easy going with situations like this. I have even “borrowed” their trucks once or twice to get a load down the road because mine was down.


Edit: ever have a farmer run his equipment trailer out to pick you up off the side of the road & then hand you his keys when you got back to the farm so the load could still delivered by morning? Lol.

 

This post. I say just show up at TSC. Surely they need that load. Try to talk to anybody in receiving. At this point you can't lose much more.

 

You guys are wrong, Swift has the capabilities to repower the load so let them deal with it.
