Never thought I'd see a day when lumber payed more than iron.

 

Ive been busy with my better thirds since my last vacation. Getting this life stuff figured out, but ive still been busy knocking out loads, and so has my buddy in my 379.

So heres a few highlights.

Actually been moving air handlers like mad. Had a 15ft wide lathe in that big crate (gross 100k) going from Utah to Wilmington CA near long beach, going into LA area wasnt all that bad, but then my rear escort into LA was awesome at forcing his way in. All my escorts on that load were fantastic. NV decided it was wise to put a 15 wide on two lane with 1ft to the guardrail on each side. That got hairy a time or two. And in addition to dodging oncoming traffic on some of the routes I had to dodge delineator posts on the other side. The photo of the 15 wide is before I resecured it (ill put in one of what i did differently )I actually had to do it as a repower, driver had a appointment he could not miss. I'll actually say it was easier going into the LA area with that load than it was just being legal.

And probably the most interesting load the electric cascadia, took it for a once around the yard. It was one of the test trucks. Being returned to Freightliner. Power delivery was fantastic just imagine any high-powered rig you've ever known if you've ever had the chance to drive one but no gears in the way. I am curious as to how it would perform with weight. The terminal manager of the company that I picked it up from didn't give it such a glowing review. They got six to eight hours out of it just going back and fourth from Compton to the ports, and it took 9 hours to do a full charge.

It weighs more than a sleeper truck. Then there's some random equipment and an APC on our 379.

if I had to tarp it I’d prefer the KONE stuff, too… fortunately I get to slide and curtain and ride so hell if it’s properly crated or not. Sometimes I even get a nice stack-o-junk;

l got to use every strap on the trailer plus a couple portables not that heavy a load they were just fussy about how it could be strapped.

 

Do I need doubles for this load?
