Chains are faster and easier. I had all 4 chains put away before I could have rolled up the 7 required straps, if you’re using the general securement regs. Also in my opinion direct securement is always better the indirect.

it could also be argued that the trailer is over 10k(it’s close) and on wheels, therefor must be secured like a piece of equipment.

393.130 What are the rules for securing heavy vehicles, equipment and machinery?
    (a) Applicability. The rules in this section apply to the transportation of heavy vehicles, equipment and machinery which operate on wheels or tracks, such as front end loaders, bulldozers, tractors, and power shovels and which individually weigh 4,536 kg (10,000 lb.) or more. Vehicles, equipment and machinery which is lighter than 4,536 kg (10,000 lb.) may also be secured in accordance with the provisions of this section, with §393.128, or in accordance with the provisions of §§393.100 through 393.114.

If it was going more then 300 miles and I had the time we would of. The second picture has a 20’ bar of titanium stuffed between the frame rails. That was super fun to tarp. F8B08ED1-E81A-4D7C-B485-FB0AE8B94FB2.jpeg F44FFFA8-B31E-49E9-8EFC-21F26A97CE18.jpeg

Thank you very much, they gave me some nice equipment so I do my best to take care of it. You are correct, a t800 road tractor is not very common. Most t800’s are vocational trucks.

"It weighs more than a sleeper truck."

And there's the rub. You don't get any more capacity, and it doesn't have a sleeper for that weight.
