Day one of being by myself is in the books. Wasn’t bad wasn’t great. I opted to take a preloaded trailer for the next few days, today’s had 16 bills and 12 drops.
Found where I can back right on in, and places I need to see someone before I back in. Had a couple of pallets at one stop where the Jack didn’t fit so we had to get a front end loader and chains to grab them. I also…. Had to go back to a delivery, cause some dumb idjit (me) left a pallet on. It was only a few miles. Lol.
Got back to the barn and was asked to go grab a last minute pu. That was an easy one in Fargo.
As far as the pay goes, I’m not willing to discuss it on here. I’m making pretty good money doing what I’m doing, more than I would’ve elsewhere.
More electric jacks are on the way, and I can’t wait to get one. Lol.
onto day 2 of solo P&D for me tomorrow.

That would be like calling AAA Cooper Transportation an OTR company because Knight-Swift just recently bought them out.
Anyways I didn't mean to derail the thread sorry @hotrod1653bzinger and hotrod1653 Thank this. -
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

@BeHereNow97 Is correct. Magnum LTL is a separate division from Magnum LTD, Dedicated and warehouse. We are our own separate little company in a way.
I’m continuing to do pre loaded trailers, which is fine with me. I’m not sitting around hardly at all, lol. Yesterday (7-20-21) I had a total of 16 bills, 12 drops and 2 picks.
Today (7-21-21) I had another 16 bills, but with multiple bills at the same location. I had 4 picks today, the fun one was picking up at a brick and decorative stone place in Fargo. Let it be said that you can move a 4,227lb pallet of bricks with a manual pallet jack.
picked up 2 engines, a big roll of rubber and a wire winding machine. The bricks were a major pia.
Everything is going good, I’m definitely enjoying being home every night now.
Hope y’all are well.Speed_Drums and bzinger Thank this. -
And for each BOL I had to sign my name, write Estes, date it, the time I got there, the time I departed, the trailer #, my run #, my driver # and SLC for "Shipper Load Count" (meaning the shipper loaded it and I didn't count it) and then finally how many pallets each BOL had on it.
THEN, I also had to enter in every BOL into a (phone) tablet that we have. Where I then had to scan the Pro # for each BOL, put in the destination code, put in the weight and put in how many pallets were on each BOL.
It took me an hour to do all of this.
I swear half of this job is being paid to be a billing clerk lol.
Has the amount of bills/paperwork associated with the bills been hard for you to get used to as well? Like it should be an easy part of the job, but honestly it can just get so mind numbing at times, especially in the example I just gave with the 42 BOL's. I can't believe I ever complained about Truckload paperwork now that I've done LTL P&D lol.hotrod1653, jmz and bzinger Thank this. -
Did lots of learning this week, and that’ll continue next week. No complaints at all about Magnum. I’m gonna continue with the pre loaded trailers for the foreseeable future I think. All I have to do is grab my paperwork, pallet jack and go.
I’m averaging 11-15 bills a day, then 3-5 picks afterwards. Hopefully all are well.Speed_Drums and bzinger Thank this. -
How's Magnum P&D going for you @hotrod1653 ? Are you liking it? And do you think the job is going to suck 1000 times worse when the harsh Fargo winters come around and you'll have to be outside in the elements way more than you were when you drove OTR?
