Hello fellas, I have a Cummins n14 that when I go to start it up it’s start but then after 2 to 3 seconds it dies , then I go ahead and try again to started up and it cranks for a bit then starts liked if I had sprayed some started fluid and stay on with no problem …. Now a few days ago it started acting like if it was running out of fuel with a lot of white smoke and it wouldn’t rev up but that only lasted like 40 seconds to a minutes at the most then ran fine afterwards , any thoughts? Thanks for your time fellas

Do u have the Davco filter? Sounds like ur loosing prime. There’s a check ball in the bottom of filter housing that keeps the fuel from running back into ur tank when u sit. They wear out

The filter housing that I have its connected straight to fuel pump with the fs1000 fuel filter , I replaced the check valve that goes on the ecm cooling plate liked 2 years ago , I’ll go ahead and tried replacing it again.

Change the fuel filter first. Go from there.

I'm not saying this is your problem but on older trucks sometimes the fuel lines themselves can internally collapse.

Sometimes that can happen in such a way that as the fuel really starts to get flowing it shuts itself off.

I would try running fuel directly out of a bucket to the pump to isolate whether you have a problem before the pump or after the pump.

That's how I do it on the big cam anyway. I assume you can do the same thing on the electronic engine.

That is what I was thinking, because I might be wrong but I believed that the fuel lines on the truck there original

Ok, it sounds like you may have a cracked fuel line, and are sucking air.
