I call every couple of weeks different dealers to feel out the situation.
New Volvo 860 (big cab) around $160K-165K + $5-6K extended warranty (4years - 500K miles) (aftertreatment included). The local M&K dealers says February - March 2022 for a factory specd truck (which is more than enough for a Midwest general freight, imo), unless someone gets cold feet and you can take their place. They want from 1-3K deposit depending what dealer you call.
P.S.
I am at the crossroads too. The more I think the less I know which option is better. e.i. overhauling/engine swap on the current or go all the way new...I'd hate to owe $100K+ debt in times of 2 and less- dol per mile freight. This is spot market, the merciless environment and what's worse, completely unpredictable. In times of rates cholera, nobody even cares, if your truck is new. Except @Midwest Trucker , who won't load you without a photo.

One thing I found interesting on the August builds is instead of delivery to my yard, I’m going to pick them up so it’s quicker and KW is offering 1k per truck discount to do so. They can’t get them shipped out just like everything else. Driver shortage.Last edited: Jul 16, 2021

I have learned what I need to know about updated emissions system and expected fuel mileage. Much cheaper to replace a 'one-box' DPF system from what I've learned. I will be getting essentially the same powerplant I have now which is super efficient (7.5 always) but I'm hoping for .5 to 1 mpg better with a new one. Same tranny I have too, and I will probably spec the same rears. I am shopping warranties as well as trucks and the first couple years new and under warranty I will expect to be much cheaper than running my truck nearing 1 mil. miles.
I won't be getting a lot of the nannys that fleets would but I might go for some of it if it saves big money.
I will of course be talking to my insurance agent about this but I was hoping swap some info here with anyone who has done this recently. Seems like most new trucks are in the $150k range, 90 more than I paid for my used one.

IRP is just based off the miles you run in whatever states. They don't care what year of truck you have. I think it costs about $20+/- to transfer in Tennessee. It's not very expensive or problematic.

I did find out today that a new tractor, any one in the $150-175k range will probably increase my insurance around $4k per year.Rideandrepair, rollin coal and TallJoe Thank this. -
I'm actually starting to think about spec'ing a 13 speed instead of the iShift. Just seems cheaper and more bulletproof to me, because i know how to shift. I am out of the habit right now but it would come back.

On any money given on trade or outright
Sell. Even if you roll that money over into new truck purchase.
Was reading something about it and dealer mentioned it when I ordered my new western star. Look into with a Cpa.

Bent the side step, damaged the mudflats , damaged the paint on sleeper when the RW installed the exhaust stacks ,
which the local dealer had to repair THREE times because they kept repainting it the wrong color etc .
Who knows what else they damaged when the removed and replaced the axle shafts etc .
