Many of the big companies have regional operations. Swift has run 8 axle combos as well as Rocky Mtn doubles in the NW for years. CRST has heavy vans, Wilson Logistics has an 8 axle fleet. Last week I saw a 4 axle JB Hunt in Spokane pulling a 4 axle conestoga.

I pulled several loads of that stuff. Top loaded at a plant near Chicago as I recall. Hauled it to waste water treatment plants south of Columbus Ohio and Nashville. What do you mean by it messed up waste stream?

The next carrier I worked for did things correctly but that place was trying to run cheap. If we could get a drum 'dry' with speedy dry; it went to a land fill; remember I'm talking 1984.

The cleaners did not know how to 'de-activate' and made tons of snot and no amount of speedy dry could fix that.

A couple years later Matlack got involved with it at Drew Chem and we discovered how they used good ole Mineral Spirits to clean off our fittings after loading the trailer and we asked what it was as the cleaning rack was already griping about the snot. Those older guys used the nickname for a different body fluid instead of snot in reverence to their regard for water treatment compound.

Since it was usually small amounts we used the center hole of a 3 pot and a garden sprayer with some mineral spirits made cleanup a breeze....

You shoulda seen what happened when they tried to come out into the oilfield and haul crude. It was a comedy of errors.

Their sand division lasted a little longer, but they're long gone too.

I'm trying to remember what the 'up to' pay was. I know it was something absolutely ridiculous for oilfield work

    Wheel chock.
    Brake lights on.
    He's not being weighed.
30 years pulling a tanker never once had a wheel chock (or even heard of) having a wheel chock put down at a weigh station.
This truck is at a customer, only 1 chock. Dot would use 2 chocks.

I have run long haul tankers in a day cab. Actually I enjoyed it.
Hotel room every night, bed, shower, tv and free coffee and breakfast in the morning!
No idling trucks, no urine smell or truck stop showers! Winning!!

Yup. A tri-axle tank can (at my company anyway) load 8,000 gallons which is as Cat sdp posted, over 80,000lbs. if I'm not mistaken, we are permitted for 105,000lbs with ours.

Was a drilling & completions field coordinator in TX for BHP before they sold out their shale properties to BP. Schneider got themselves put in the corner more than enough times to the point where they were not allowed on the callout lists even if other outfits couldn't be dispatched. Some company men found themselves in deep doo doo if they tried because Houston operations had directed finance to not issue PO's for any work until safety signed off on all audits to get them back in rotation. Exact same thing happened with Stevens. And this wasn't just BHP. Pioneer and a few other operators extinguished enough of their work to squash any plans they had made to move out west when the Permian boom started.
