The engine weighs 800 lbs less that C-15 and gets good fuel mileage. However, I run the flatlands in hilly country might want a bigger motor. They quit making the C-12 in 2004 or somewhere in that time frame.
What's your empty weight for tractor & trailer?

If you keep your batteries in good shape you can get by with 3 instead of 4. That'll save whatever a battery weighs, plus the expense of replacing 3 instead of 4. We cut a board to bolt down in place of the missing battery so the others can't move around.
Got dual stacks? There's a little unnecessary weight. Plus you don't have to get nervous every time a cart driver pulls up to load you, afraid he is going to hit your driver's side stack.
Of course if you've got money falling out of your pockets, you can buy more aluminum wheels, I can't remember the weight difference, 40 lbs. a piece I think. But that's like spending a dollar to save a nickel, takes a while to recoup that investment.
What year is your trailer? The newer they get, the better engineered they are and the less they weigh.
We had a '90 T-800 with a 3406 that weighed well over 28,000 with a hopper- great motor, good truck, just heavy.
Maybe you've already thought of this stuff and I'm preaching to the choir. I just needed to take my mind off another Bears loss in progress!dairyman Thanks this. -

Could be worse...be a chiefs fan[/QUOTE]
the chiefs could'nt come through today could they, but the titans are on a roll. -
. i do just run three batterys though,so i'm with ya there. hadn't even thought about pulling 1 stack off the drivers side either, that would cut out at least another 100 lbs or so counting the Y under the cab and all the hardwear that goes with it! i've got alum. on outside of frameless dump i could switch to hopper and have all 8 alum. on it.(160 lbs) so i would just need 4 unpolished inside alum.for the tractor(160 lbs more). lets see now, 300 lbs oil+100 lbs for 1 stack +320 lbs of rims, thats over 1/3 ton without spending much at all,DANG,ya'll goi'n to make a grain hauler out of me yet
what is the real, true weight on ,say a,'05 or newer 40 ft. timpte or wilson pacesetter with all alum. rims? mine is a '96 model. lets not talk about da bears
or i'll get depressed,pityfull

weight with hopper:
I had to look at old scale ticets to check for sure on weight with different amounts of fuel and it looks like I top out at 27,100 and can get down to 26,750 with about 40 gal of fuel left
This is in a pete 379 short hood with c12 15 speed 2-120 gal tanks 10 aluminum wheels and 63 in midrise sleeper
Trailer is '09 timpte 40' 72" sides standard tubs 2-speed openers steel subframe and uppercoupler and all steel wheels and airride of course
I know you can harrasss me about the steel wheels lol I want to put the oval cut wheels on it that match the truck I'll see how much is left after the first of the year I have a dealer tha will sell me new takeoffs for 250 a piece and give me 30 for the steels
