I have narrowed it down to a step deck but have a few questions

If you're going to change anything, I'd convert all the connections to green. Everybody carries ABS pigtails. That ISO cable was actually kind of a pain to find.

So I got the tool box mounted and have most of the stuff in it minus the straps and edge protectors.Put down a sheet of 1/2” OSB.The cardboard box on the right side are extra winches I purchased to add to the 12 the trailer came with so they’ll be out of there tomorrow. If y’all see a way that I can save space in the box let me know. The brackets seem heavy duty. What do y’all think about me putting the tarps over the dunnage or should I put them somewhere else?

I always see step guys putting the dunnage behind the drop. Seems logical to me. Then tarps on upper deck.

Was thinking that I rather lose space on the upper deck rather than the main deck.

You really don’t lose much though, I’m just run a standard flat but I park right next to some step deck guys where I keep the truck and everyone of them keeps their dunnage there. They also use straps to hold it down as it is just along for the ride.

it actually looks almost like the deck is extended a bite more. What 8 inches if stacked two rows four high

Watch out things tend to disappear….. your end plan should be everything under lock and key…….

The osb is a good idea, but find some channel or angle and bolt it to the bottom of the box if you have that much weight in there. also any moisture will end up destroying the osb, so i would probable drill a few drain holes in the box and consider moving to a marine grade plywood

Looks so nice when everything is new and shiny. Lol. They make little racks for those ratchet binders, you could probably get one of those and mount it up in your headache rack if/when you get one.

I think I will try the plywood thing if I ever get my box back from the weld shop. Will pick up some angle as suggested by @skallagrime .

For tarp storage, I remember awhile back someone had rigged up a storage shelf area underneath the trailer by putting wood across the frame. That was really slick because it kept everything out of sight. I guess that probably wouldn’t work on a step deck though.

There is an area underneath the trailer at the front that’s supposed to be for carrying a spare tire but now that you mention it I I might just put the tarps there.
