Big Road. Was skeptical at first, as I have never been one for using personal property, to conduct company functions. But, it ain’t all that bad to use, actually very user friendly.

With the connecting cable cords it’s like $1000 altogether but the unit themselves are $850 to $900 each!

Not really a Omnitrac issue. The cell phone companies are turning off older towers so everything based on 3g tech will no longer work.

Ok fine but give me a heads up on it or don’t be a half ### company still using 3g. Or figure out a way to reconfigure your 3g to 4g. Don’t sell me brand new units that are going to be obsolete in less then a year.

Worst case give me credit on the 4g from my 3g units so it’s cost for you and savings for me. I feel like it’s just a money grab since they were bought out and shopping a new buyer.

Otherwise Omnitrac has been good. It always works and the drivers like it. It’s wired in so never loses signal in tunnels and such.

Its $50 per month per unit for the monthly service. As you can see though even for a small company like mine that’s $6000 per year plus I have around $13,000 to 15k invested in cables and units.

Thanks government mandate. I’d have around $35,000 to 40,000 more dollars in my bank at least if wasn’t for ELD.

Good Lord imagine having 100 or 1000 trucks?

I apologize for the rant folks. lol

I actually haven’t been one to feel that strongly one way or another about ELD but this latest revelation has me upset.

Jeepers, that’s some dough. I think my setup was about a fifth of that, but we’re cheap, and buy used iPads on eBay........

That is one of the big reasons we dropped Omnitracs. The MCP200 was out of date almost as soon as it was installed back in 2010, and we knew we had to upgrade our hardware soon. The "new" Omnitracs hardware was going to be the same story as the MCP200 - virtually obsolete at installation and unable to play nicely with other software. We looked at their tablet based eld and it was the biggest piece of garbage. It was supposed to be a "finished product" that we would beta test for a month to create the training curriculum, then roll it out to the whole fleet over the next year. It was so bad we basically went and built our own eld.
