    How do you figure that?

Maybe there's something I'm missing but if he put $10,000 down on the truck and $10,000 on the trailer and 5,000 down on his insurance that leaves him with $35,000

Now even if let's say it was only twenty thousand that he laid out that's still only leaves him with 40 and by the time he does his authority and gets his tag and does whatever last-minute repairs to the truck he's probably down at least another five thousand probably 10...

I suppose if he completely financed everything and he had 60,000 leftover maybe that's not too bad?

We don't know how much financing he can actually do and whether he has more financing for breakdowns or whatever... But I can only imagine if his wife is not on board and he Finances $150,000 and his financing is maxed out and the truck is breaking down and the bills are piling up and she sees him taking $30,000 of the $60,000 of their life savings...

I took it wrong. I thought you were saying 60k income is not alot. I try to never show that much income.

60k initial investment. Idk. I started with 10k cash and a 13k truck. It can be done.

Don't think my parents would of made it if dad was OTR. Worked a lot of 14-18hr days doing NYC daily just to be able to spend time with us daily. Even if it was only a hour or 2 before he passed out, still worth it being able to see your kids grow up

I'm the king at losing lighters............mainly because my dad is good at stealing them Lol. Leave one in the shop or the truck and it magically disappears

Yes, do what I did, it gave me the freedoms I needed and the freight to produce revenue … lease onto a company like landstar and work with their agents. The 18 months I was on the road I was doing regional freight and working four days, two days at a time, very consistent and very easy on my wife. This was literally etched in stone after two months for 16 months worth of work going forward, it helped my wife a lot. Before I was out for 6 to 8 weeks at a time and a few times 16 weeks out. Hard times for my wife and kids but they didn’t suffer as one would think,

Should I assume you didn’t have a dash cam? I had a four wheeler side swipe me 3 years ago. My rig was out of service and in the shop for three weeks. I was paid my normal daily net revenue the entire time after my insurance company gave her insurance company a copy of the video. Although two years ago I had a DUI driver run a red light without insurance. He did go to jail but I had to pay my deductible and got no downtime. The video still kept my 34 year safe driving record clean.

I would recommend leasing on to someone 1st. There is a LOT to learn so you don't get taken advantage of by brokers. Also generally the load board has loads that carriers can't cover or brokers can't cover with their regular guys. They keep the good paying loads for their trucks. You can get decent rates, but a lot of time it's on the 11th hour. If you lease on to someone, you can start building relationships with brokers before you step out with your own numbers. Just something to consider....
