Ive seen some 1099 willing to do w2. I wonder if op asked about it?

 

Please tell me the people signing up for these companies are NOT procreating.....

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Please enlighten me and other readers of this post on how someone is trying to skirt tax laws by working under a 1099 as a sub-contractor. If anything, you'd have an argument that the driver who accepts the 1099 format instead of a W4/W2 system is hurting himself as he has no tax nor medical withheld and DOES have to remedy that at year's end. And really, please don't try to belabor your opinion on that driver just not filing because the company WILL file a 1099 to absolve themselves of any tax liability.

By the way, it's unfortunately still perfectly legal to hire a driver as a subcontractor as long as he/she crosses state lines.

It means, my friend, that someone with a supposed 27 years in the business, should be able to see what usually happens with these companies, and steer clear. That is all....

 

You may want re-read the post and what this company is offering. No where I have looked says that they are offering a lease/purchase contract.

 

Perhaps you could justify and back up your claim with some evidence, you know, like uploading a settlement sheet. It would very much be helpful to mature, professional drivers out here who legitimately want to do better.

 

Okay, let me ask you if they run a forced dispatch.

If the answer is no, then what does it matter what they get for a rate. If say, dispatch offers you a 2000-mile load for $6,000 and they are getting, oh say, $8,000, can you make money at $3.00/mi.? I sure could and HAVE!

And let's just say that load after load after load pays to you and your rental truck an average of $3.00/mi. Would you worry much abot what they are getting for the load? I sure wouldn't because you may want to remember, THEY are the ones who found the load. They are the ones who found the customer; they are the ones who found that shipper. It may even be a loyal customer of THEIR'S, not your's. But many of you think they are completely obligated to tell you what they are making.

Instead, take time and make the effort to pay attention to what the freight lane is paying; ask questions from prospective shippers; get your OWN customers ... or don't. It's really simple.

Oh, and if you have a problem with their (possible, but improbable) taking off the top of the Ryder truck rental, again, that isn't the most important problem with that very expensive option. Again, you're barkin up the wrong tree. If you're really serious about working with any company, get your own truck your OWN way. Save your money, build your credit rating and buy or lease a truck on your own; then BRING that to them. If they don't want to go that route with you, simply go somewhere else.

Back to the original option: if the answer to running a forced dispatch is "yes", then maybe they are not the company to go with.
