Swift Move!!

Swift, Fort Pierce Florida, 2 Pilots- across the street from each other....Swifty hits 2 trucks trying to back in a space. Goes to the other Pilot, hits 1 more truck, then drives off !!!!! Yes WE stopped him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Technically I suppose they do, provided you drag them at 65mph for about 50 miles...

 

Well howdy, yes guilty as charged, for you see , that's was funny about the landing gear was down, but i did the the same thing, but only in the yard, , first the landing pads were a foot below a ice puddel, so i got that ice melt , and soon as i seen the air buddels i knew i was good too go, problem was , the landing gear was froze up from road spray,and the other driver didnt bother too report it or at lest too try too put in shop or even tell anybody, so i get that giant forklife they use , pick it up ,put it on my tractor , drag landing gear and all back over to shop and back it into shop which was bad cause lot was all glare and ice, now this not easy on a empty trl with landing gear down, almost took out the side of shop door , but i got it in the shop , then that netted me 4 hours lost time, getting dark and said screw it, ask shop manger if okay too leave the whole unit in shop, said sure, went too town grab a motel and nice supper and wacthed tv rest of night all thanks too that other idiot driver for not taking time too do it right, i hate just drop en go drivers, there the worst, they leave flat tires , tore off air hoses, sorry for the rambling on, Everett.

 

My hubby WAS one. He worked for them off and on for 10 years. Actually he was a L/O near the end of his lease (four months left on it) and looking to purchase the truck and he did something they didn't like which put scrutiny on them and they terminated him.

Now we have a case with OSHA for wrongful termination under the Whistleblower Act that's still pending. It's been a long wait (over a year) but our investigator says it's a complex case. We're hopeful that things work out in our favor.

My hubby enjoyed working for them as a L/O. He didn't have to sit around and wait for freight. If the area he was in didn't have freight, he'd go to where they had it. He loved the autonomy to do this. He averaged around 3,000 to 3,600 miles a week. He hated sitting (which he did as a company driver).

Moral of the story is don't cross them unless you're willing to take a stand and suffer the consequences and repercussions because they will eat you alive. They want drivers who won't question anything or stand their ground on legal/safety issues. Safety is their first priority?......my ###. Pardon my french.

To be fair... I drive for Swift and I love picking on them....

 

enough is enough, been with swift for awhile now, most of the accidents i've seen are owner ops and i ve seen alot of drivers that they have been with swift for a long time, with no accidents touch wood the bottom line is all about the driver not the name of the company thx

 

An instructor once told me it's the newbies that will knock the mirrors off, dent fenders and knock down signs and fences, but the big multi-million dollar accidents are caused by drivers with a few years under their belt.

 

ok time for my 2 cents on Swift. everybody has to start somewhere and I bet you have made mistakes "on the road" too. if it were not for companies like swift we would have no new drivers and I understand you all are perfect and will be around forever. But we non believers want fill in when you go. NOw I have had to come off of the road and I miss it like a lost puppy and hope to go back." I have worked on many trucks used to do mech. work" and I know everybody has opinions and they all stink including mine. Swift may not be the best hell they may not 100th best but they give people a chance when most others wont. and if you are Smart enough to use common sense you can learn a LOT because of the loads you get. I've driven in snow on hils and mountains in rain and anything else you can think of and at anytime I could just say I'm in over my head and wait for it to clear. so bash away and have a good day, but remember the guy in that white truck is just trying to learn to be like YOU!
