Back in 07 they brought a new guy over from Swift. I think it was the VP. Right after that the stupid policies started getting worse, if that tells you anything.

Mine was set at 70 and some of the million mile guys had theirs turned up to 75 as a reward. The mechanics never checked them though. I met one guy whos truck ran 80 when he got in it. You could have the Dr uncap it for you and they'd never notice.

Tis indeed a shame that the owners of Arrow have so much power and influence and at the same time so little character ... we are apparently living in a world of nuclear powerhouses and moral infants. In the end God will take note of clean hands, not full hands.

    There is.

The U.S. Department of Labor - Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act of 1989 requires a covered employer to give 60 days notice before closing.

    READ IT HERE

I'm not a labor lawyer, but I can't see how Arrow was able to skirt the provisions of this particular law.

They didn't skirt it. They flat out broke it. Wether purposely or out of ignorance, probably both. The way they went down it really sounds like someone took the money and ran.

I don't know if this is legal or not, but...

If I had a trailer that had a load to be delivered on-board, I think I'd call the shipper first thing in the morning, explain the situation to them, and see what kind of arrangement I could make directly with them for delivery of their freight.

In other words - call the shipper and tell them you'll need "X" amount of $$ for fuel, and "X" amount for a bus ticket home after you deliver the load. If they'll wire you that much $$, you'll deliver the load, otherwise God knows when or if it will be delivered.

I wouldn't try to extort money from the shipper - pay me, or else - I'd instead try to reach some sort of accommodation
with them, something along the lines of "You help me, I'll help you, and to hell with Arrow!"

Well, my first day of unemployment is just about over. I said I was going to quit Arrow 1000 times, but never did. Guess I thought it would get better, like it used to be. I don't get attached to too many things, my wife, kids, and MY JOB. I have always been that way, that is why it breaks my heart that this has happened. I know I will recover and things will get better and life will go on, but these next 2 weeks are deffinately going to be rough. I guess I was one of the lucky ones, being a local driver, I was home when this happened. But my prayers will continue to go out to all of those stranded.

And, I want to thank everyone for all of the kind words and thoughts and prayers. I believe I can speak for all of us Arrow drivers when I say this.

Well, guess I will sign off for tonight, God Bless

see that makes me wonder about all the freight that these customers are waiting on but won't be able to get them because the drivers cant deliver them because of Arrow shutting down. So what can the customers do? I know that they will sue Arrow but you cant get blood out of a turnip.
