Forty years ago, a seismic shift occurred in the global trucking landscape. A shift so vast it would eventually lay the commercial and technological foundations for Europe’s ultimate ascension over Fortress America as the dominant force in world truck manufacturing.

It was 1981 when the company formerly known as Daimler-Benz bought the struggling US truck maker Freightliner, and whether by confluence or coincidence, it was also the year Swedish brand Volvo acquired the financially strapped White Trucks

    An Interesting Read..

@daf105paccar can you please explain me economy behind container trailer that can be separated for transport of 2x 20ft.
i understand concept but cant figure out how this can be economic.

such trailers can cost like 2.5-3x more than mass produced container trailers.

and how much load they do in reality?

Count time savings, when you can unload two containers at once at two customers. Same with loading.

Not all companies agree to unload containers from "front".

Is it even happening in US?

medioker, 98989 and Oxbow Thank this.

Not that I'm aware of. Most of our container chassis are longer than than the containers by a fair bit, so it would require a deck of sorts on the front to access. I have no experience with them so I could be wrong, just observations from seeing them in passing.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.
