I've been here about a year now. Yes, they are all set at 68 mph. Your DM and the planners will drop you route towards one of the Yards when your truck is coming due for a p.m. might go a little over 8 K sometimes, but not much

It's actually not bad at all now that I've gotten used to it. I usually just plan on taking at least a two-hour break and splitting my logs when I get a p.m. done that way I can still run my full 11 that day

News to me as well but I confirmed with Recruiting.

They are enhancing the Orientation Pay from $200 a day to $200 upfront and $800 on the First Settlement.

They added a new Safety Incentive of $500/mo for four months if no safety issues.

I still haven’t wrapped my head around the different ways that 8/2 can be used. I’ve used it a couple times getting to a drop location later than expected. Taken an 8 then hit the drop on time, then take a 2 to complete the 10. Sometimes that 2 isn’t the most convenient but I made my drop on time.

so you are using it as a 2/8 then?

taking your 2 at the shop and then at least an 8 at the end of the shift to complete your 10?

how is that different than just using 2 hours of your 14 and driving your 11 around it?

Most of the time I don't end up doing the 8, I will usually just take a 10 that night and start over with a fresh 14 the next day. Just depends on how much drive time I would pick back up and how far away I am from where I'm going. Sometimes it comes in handy if I'm going home the next day or something I don't have to shut down for a pool 10 .The main difference is that it pauses you're 14 hour clock when you check that box and take the two or three-hour break, that way you can still drive your full 11 that day and not lose productivity because your truck is in the shop. May not be that advantageous to you being otr, but being Regional, I burn my 11 every single day, sometimes down to two or three minutes LOL

Yep that's how I used it too. Would take either the 2 or 3 hour break at a shipper/receiver, then use up however much of my 14 I wanted/needed to use followed by a 10 hour break. Basically my 14 hour clock would pause on that 2 or 3 hour break because I knew I would complete the split sleeper birth my next break.

I only used the split sleeper a few times back to back to back, for example maybe a 3 hour break, 7 hour break and then start driving again. In those cases I honestly just used the Qualcomm to let me know how much HOS time I had left because it gets confusing to me if you don't take the 10 hour break after the initial 2 or 3 hour break. I don't like doing that though and only did it to get a load there on time. I like to take showers before bed if possible and 7 or 8 hours in the sleeper birth isn't enough break time for me because I like to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night and there's no way I'm falling asleep right away when I finish my day.

The good thing that I see about FCC is if drivers aren't having to use the split sleeper birth then it's there for the drivers discretion but dispatch won't plan you to run like that everyday to get the loads there on time. That's how it was at my old company and how it should be done IMO.

Actually to be fair nobody ever gave the official hometime policy for FCC when I inquired about it within the past week, you guys all like to run hard and only take a few days off per month so none of you were quite sure what the official policy was :D

Another forum member actually mentioned via PM that it was 1 day off per week out OTR when he looked into FCC several years ago. @Michael1771 if you find out the official hometime policy for OTR drivers be sure to let us know.
