That doesn't happen at our barn...and I'm grateful.
Now, if we could just keep dockworkers!

@MACK E-6
Are your road guys doing meets in the median now? I saw this today and couldn’t believe my eyes. Only the second time in 34 years I have seen a big truck do a u-turn on a Interstate.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -

Last time on “As the Steering Wheel turns”, we talked about a blatant and glaring instance of dispatcher favoritism. On todays episode, we’ll discuss a slightly different version involving a different snake in the grass.
We had a city run go for bid last year. It’s a busy area, but it’s tight and roughly 5 miles from the yard. Nobody wanted it, partly because of the reputation of the dispatcher for that area.
This presented a convenient opportunity for said dispatcher to really ride a driver he doesn’t like, who shall herein be referred to as “Driver A”. Dispatcher went and found the slowest, laziest, do-nothing driver he could, who shall herein be referred to as “Driver B”, and attempted to persuade him to take the run. He refused, and said he would only take the run if the following demands were met.
1. I will not work more than 8 hours per day.
2. I will not do more than 9 deliveries per day.
3. I will not do more than 2 pickups per day.
4. I will not get a TWIC card.
Funny, a TWIC card USED to be a requirement for that run.
Anyhow, the TM capitulated, and Driver B is now doing the run.
This is great for dispatcher, because now he can slam Driver A who starts at 5:00 AM with all of Driver B’s pickups and keep him out 14 hours every day, while Driver B gets to play the “8 and skate” game.
Now, I can’t really be too sympathetic to Driver A’s plight, as he had several opportunities to escape the scumbag in question, but he doesn’t want to run over to the eastern shore with us “country bumpkins”.misterG Thanks this. -

That was before my time, but apparently all the drivers got together and wrote a letter to corporate which everybody signed, and TM was subsequently fired.
