Yeah, your right guys. I should run illegally and take the load up to la porte TX. Who cares about the peoples life that I put at risk on the road right? I should just care that the load gets there on time. Take all the legalities out and do it for the company. AMEN to that brother. NOT!
Is it over for me

Dude, your right! I was pro Raider but I to am looking for a way out. They place you in a catch 22 situation with running legal. Safety will call you up and tell you not to do it. But then the dispatchers run you like crazy. I'm sorry about your wife bro.

Yeah, your right RickG. I have come to the point that I feel what I've done in the last three months with Raider is wrong. My wife in the hospital just made me realize that it's not worth it. No job is worth running illegal. Grimm, your so right dude! It's all catch22 with Raider.

Don't worry about it. You'll find another company that is better. Did you see Raiders lot? It's full with trucks. Almost like everybody has quit for the holiday. Your not the only one turning in your keys. According to one driver, it doesn't get any better at Raider even after a year. At 28 cents a mile you make more as a baggage clerk at Wal-mart. At least there you can't run someone over with a truck, maybe with a shopping cart.
So your doing the right thing. Like I said I'm looking for a way out 2. Hang in there and good luck finding something else. Take care of your wife and Happy Holidays to you!
Piratetrucker Thanks this. -
Changed my mind and deleted my post...good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Think of it this way, a soldier in Iraq gets a call that his wife has miscarried... he can't just leave his post and hop on a plan home, he would be considered AWOL and could face charges... That kind of stuff happens a lot with soldiers... My dad was in the military... he was TDY in Africa when my mum miscarried, he wasn't able to get home to her for a couple weeks... and he was only able to be home for a 10 days before he was sent back to Africa for 11 more months...
Many truckers have been on the road when their wife, child or parents had an emergency... Sometimes fatal...
That is what anyone deciding to become a trucker needs to give thought to... and be prepared for...
As soon as you got the call from you wife you should of called your DM and tried to work it out... When you are under a load you need to continue to make your way to delivering that load while you to work things through with your DM.
Imagine how angry you would be, if the doctor tending to your wife in the OR got a call about an emergency at his home.. Should he just abandon your wife on the operating table... stop off at the hospitals administrators office, tell them he is done, there is an emergency at home he has to get to and bythe way... I don't like how you run this hospital either... And do you want that doctor working at another hospital.... Would you feel his actions of leaving your wife in the OR as justifiable because he had an emergency...
This is what recruiters don't tell you... and newbies don't consider... You will more than likely be on the road under a load when emergencies and things happen at home, you won't be able to get there right away... and you may not make it before your loved one passes..
I know to you we are coming off harsh and insensitive... we aren't.. we just know what comes with being a trucker and it is tough... but, if yoy think being a trucker is tough... try being a truckers wife!
I am sorry about you and your wifes miscarrage.... I will pray for you... I know this is a difficult time and a dificult thing to go through...Poobah, Kabar, luvmytruckcake and 3 others Thank this. -
Dude, we are not in a war. You can't use military experience for trucking. We are on American soil. When you quit from a job the company will find a replacement to take your place. Why should it be any different with trucking. Especially with the number of Raider trucks you see just sitting there. I'm done. You guys are just making me more frustrated. You can say whatever you want lavendertrucker but your not in my situation with the wounded wife. Thanks for the prayer because I'm going to need it.

In a week the company wont remember your name. In a week your family will still need and love you . So one thing I have learned after 28 years in the game is trucking companies are a dime a dozen and sooner or later they all need drivers even bad drivers.
So don't sweat it just take care of the important things and trucking will always be here. There is no truck or trucking job worth messing the the family up for.
Go home and have a great great Christmas with your child and wife and let them know how much you love them and that they are the real reason for the season.
That's about all I have to say about that .Piratetrucker and Hanadarko Thank this.
