How do you tell a driver on the road that a immediate family member has died , what would the company do.

Hopefully, a family member would break the news. Otherwise, the owner or a friend of the driver will call them. Regardless they would get home immediately If they were well enough to drive, we'd tell the driver to turn the logbook off and come home. Otherwise, we'd fly them home or get another driver to scoop them up.

People with a conscience probably get weeded out of Dispatcher training before the coffee break on day number 1. LOL

Because no customer ever takes more than 30 minutes to load/unload a trailer and since flying cars became popular there are no traffic jams in cities. Ask any dispatcher /sarcasm

Brandt, Val_Caldera and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Is there a minimum number of times you have to be dropped on your head to be qualified to dispatch? Or is it based on total distance dropped?

When I first started OTR the dispatcher yelled at me because I didn’t know how to write a check lol. They always seemed angry when I had to call them

Dont have anything to ask, but just want to say its a beautiful thing when you have a dispatcher that is really good at their job, and the drivers are really good at their job. It makes trucking alot more fun when you're on a good team and we can alll make alot of money together.
