i think,..wait,..yeah,..i think i got my feelings hurt?that reminds me of a funny thing that happened to me while waiting in line at the local foodmart about 5 years back, i was standing behind this nicely dressed lady and she was really bashing the farmers because of all the subsidies they got and she said,''do you know why the farmers bend the bills of their caps like they do,so when they go to the mailbox to get their gov. checks their hat will line up with the mailbox and keep the sun out of their eyes'', well, the girl working at the counter told her that i was a dairyfarmer and she snapped around and looked at me and you guessed it,i bend the bill of my cap just like she described it. ''Well,'' she told me,''i stand by what i've said!'' i just grinned and ask her,''mam,do you pay your taxes'' so she snapped back, ''i most certainly do!'' i said, ''well, you just fuss all you want ,i do too.'' i never go to the maibox now without a little chuckle. glad i'm hauling feed and grain now though, these great rates have totally eliminated the stress i had while farming

Hey I've got no problem with you or anyone else taking the cash, I just don't want to hear the complaining about how tough things are (that's a general statement, nothing personal). 1/2 of my family are farmers, in fact my uncle is looking for a new truck (his W900 must be dirty) and he just ordered a new trailer for tax purposes. While driving a new pickup and a newer caddy. The problem with the grain freight rates is the fact that every farmer on the block wants to play truckdriver when their not in the tractor. Hard to compete with someone that gets govt handouts. After harvest there's 2 farmers in every truck and nothing gets them stirred up on the radio more than saying "Farm welfare check must have been big this year, look at all those shiny trucks".
One farming family (father and 2 sons) about 2 miles from me received $2,539,316.00. Poor guys have to try and make it on $230,846.00 per year on top of what the farm profit is. That's darn near poverty level. -

haha, that's good. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to get across while typing. It's just irritating when you try to compete with someone in business when they have the unfair advantage of getting tax money to finance their operation. No wonder they can haul it cheaper.
Just another example of why the govt should stay out of the private sector.

dairyman Thanks this. -
Use it before you quote freight weights.wheathauler Thanks this. -
Far as quoting freight rates for farmers I've basically been told if I raise rates they will buy another hopper.
The ones I haul for have one truck and one hopper trailer...they also have a semi with a chemical trailer. Eventually they will probably get another hopper anyway and I will have to haul commerical during harvest.

It's cold here at the house. I thought we was having a typhoon blizzard
when I woke up this morning the way the wind was blowing and snow here. I just hope the wet stuff stays away. It would be nice if wheathauler or Kansas would come down and finish my Christmas shopping so I don't have to get out. lol -
