Also, waiting 15 hours to get unloaded at a grocery warehouse.
Being told by the bank that they couldn't cash my paycheck because the company's account didn't contain sufficient funds.
Working 45 days straight hauling a load that took 12 hours to complete, asking for a day off, and being told "if you want a day off, turn a double the day before."Last edited: Sep 4, 2021

I was only out of training for about 2 weeks with the food service company i started at and they sent me out with someone fresh out of training. Wouldn't of been a big deal but I only did this run a few times before. 8 stop NYC peddle. Was still learning the ropes where and how to set everything up, I knew I was gonna fall behind and be late......very very late
The guy they sent me should of never even applied for the job, in his late 40s and out of shape. I don't think he made it a month before quitting. Normally the 2 man run took 20-24 hours. This ended up taking almost 40 hours Lol. The guy they sent me with was worthless. Told dispatch never again Lol. Bad enough we were both green but him being lazy was the icing on the cakeSpeed_Drums Thanks this. -
New to OTR, so answer might change this winter. Not gonna include wait times at shippers/receivers.
When I was 19 and getting my experience, I did a 50 mile round trip drop and hook. 5 rounds a day, so 10 trailers. It was Mon-Fri, and just came back on Monday after a weekend of freezing rain and just enough snow to pack down and make it interesting. It’s southern KY, so we get snow so little, that they don’t really prep roads. We just slow down for a day or two, but the customer decided to open.
Show up, fifth wheel on truck is frozen. Get that melted, no big deal. Hook to the first trailer and spent 10 minutes chiseling ice off of the gladhands so I can hook up. Brakes are frozen on every single trailer, so another 10 minutes per trailer hammering on brake drums to get them to release. Repeat both steps 10 times along with getting stuck in the dock door a couple times from the warm tires melting/freezing the snow under the trailer.
Not a terrible experience, but doing it for a grand total of 160 dollars made me appreciate what I’m doing/earning now -
N00bLaLoosh and fishonron Thank this.
