Fedex Ground Linehaul Contractor Pay Is Absolutely Insane!

My wife and I hadn't driven in ten years.
A guy there has had four accidents, one a rollover and still works there. They do have you agree to pay their $2,500 deductible if the accident is your fault. Not unreasonable considering that they don't fire you. They also have driver facing cameras. So not a perfect company but if you need a chance or want to get time in doing fedex it is a good start. And with guys with issues asking for help finding a company I figured I'd pass this one along.

We will find out Monday if we have a job with another company or not doing Refer. My wife got shook up doing light doubles on 80. Wind was tossing them around. This new company said they would dispatch me like a solo driver but put her on their insurance so she could drive too. We talked about doing this for awhile so she can get comfortable driving. Then do teams if she is up to it. Less money for now but if it helps her to drive it'll be worth it in the long run.

 

$1500 per week with 2 days off is really good.

That is really close to my pay running OTR. Out for 8-10 werks.....home for 2 weeks. Let me be clear. That is the schedule I CHOOSE to run. I chose my current company SPECIFICALLY for the Lanes, Long haul runs, and hometime policy. Home daily....off weekends does not fit for ME. I do not have a house or apartment currently. However I do have 3 rental units. They will be paid off in 2 years. I plan to retire at 65 (3 1/2 years). I will then move into one of the units and continue to rent the other 2. I have said it numerous times on this forum. Trucking is not a one size fits all occupation. That is the beauty of it. Many different sectors that fit certain people, and different stages of life. For example: One sector I am considering after I get off the road is Drive Away for Motorhomes, School Busses and pull a tow car. Spend 3-4 weeks out several times a year. For some extra pocket money. That sector doesn't pay real well if you want to do it for a living..... but... you choose when you want to hit the road, make a couple thousand dollars and go home. Again, congrats on the line haul gig. Sounds like it fits you well!

 

Very well put. The freedom to choose is one of those awesome things about trucking. I hope more part time gigs like this fedex one becomes the norm later on when I want to be home more, for now, OTR long haul is sweet.
