I would also take some of the horror stories you've heard with a grain of salt. ABF was terrible to work for; UPS, while still strenuous, is a vacation in comparison.
Is UPS Still $38/Hr.

If I were you I would try for a job like Yellow or ABF and then hope to get in UPS later when you have some experience.
I fully realize the world of trucking has changed since I was hired at UPS in 2002, but the hiring manager told me I was the least experienced driver she had ever hired. I had 15 years and well over a million miles at the time.Last edited: Aug 26, 2021

Well, it just like I'd suspected. My CDL instructor has good intentions; but my gut told me that he might only have a part of the story. From his point of view, he made it seem as though that the union at UPS was making an exception, due to the driver shortage. From what he'd told me, the hub in Oak Creek WI, was snapping up new CDL grads as feeder drivers and starting them out at $38/hr....I know wishful thinking; but that's all the more reason why I'd decide to post this question to the forum. Either way, I was attempting to get confirmation on whether this was true or not.
In closing, I would just have to start at the bottom like everyone else.LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -

the toronto canada hub in concord is looking for feeder drivers but starting wage of $19 a hr no way in hell i could afford to start at that rate . i can’t believe being so close to toronto where if you’re not making at least $25 a hr you can’t afford to live there the rate would be so low . i have 13 years experience and thought of applying and understand i wouldn’t be making top wages but with all the other bs i read or have heard . ei being let go right before probation , on call never knowing when or how many shifts you will get how can anyone afford to stay at ups unless you have a part time job or live off the wife’s income. i guess for now i will just stay at my local mega job making $23 a hr ot of $34.50 after 9 hrs . works out to be $25.09 a hr for 11 hrs work
