Yes you could. Many big LTLcompanies have trucks coming thru the shop bay and mechanic does inspection every day. OTR driver is in different situation. Vehicle shall be inspected before move, it's in regulation. Company shop is 1000 miles away. Mobile service booked week in advance. Lot lizard can satisfy driver but doesn't qualify to perform inspection. So driver has only one option left. Self satisfaction.

No, You have been claiming that an inspection is not required, not in the regs.
If a Problem happens with atruck, it is the drivers problem. Even if it was just inspected at the shop -

I saw, its not required, it's only a carrier requirement is not in the Regs. Dot can't make the driver do an inspection .Thats just some of the posts . I saw . Where did you get the idea it is not a requirement ?

It says before moving the vehicle the driver shall BE SATISFIED WITH THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.
It does NOT say the driver must conduct a pre trip inspection.
Common sense has nothing to do with this. It's called federal regulations. If its not in the regs, its not required.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
