Ive been thinking about throwing in the towel here lately. Truck is back in the shop because it’s been drinking 3/4 of a gallon of coolant a day. Clean oil sample, so it’s not there. Not in my fuel. Not in my air tanks. I lost the emissions stuff in Mexico one day. It doesn’t smoke under a pull. Just been very frustrating this year. Especially since it hasn’t gotten 30k on the rebuild.

Been offered a company job and a job away from trucking.

But it’s gotten into my blood and makes for a hard decision in life.

One of the only things on this truck that is still original.

Edit: funny thing is, even with all those miles. It's still worth a ton in this market....more than my first house.....lol

“Trucking sucks though. I’m an idiot. Should’ve stuck with engineering.”

Nah. This crap is fun. I love it too much to do anything else. It’s only gotten better with time for me.

the classes around here are ran by a group of three or four guys, all cool dudes

their pretty adamant about everyone taking one class a year just to freshen up on the basics

I don’t live far from the BMW camp down in Spartanburg. Their supposed to have some sort of off road class that people come from all over for… that’s in the cards next year.

What's up with all of these new freightliners, they all have their marker lights on at night. Is that like a thing?

    Edit: while they are parked.

Every time I've gotten out of trucking I have found my way back to it.

About the only job I can do anymore and not want to commit atrocities by the end of the day. Finally learned my lesson that I am not fit for an office job, or anything else that might involve an excess amount of interpersonal politics and horse ####.

Me... I don't love trucking... I love the road, l like being on the road, constantly on the move... no place really appeals to me for very long... and I still don't want to live anywhere.
I really, really, really enjoyed my first years trucking OTR... despite of hardships, dangers, winter, living in the truck, etc...
But as things started to change, like ELDs, less parking, more technology in new trucks... trucking lost a lot of its joy for me... on top of that, the difficulty to keep a healthy routine and the stress made me re consider trucking...
I am not excited about going back trucking and I wish I had another "great" idea of what else to do to continue supporting myself but I don't...

My degree is engineering. I did that for a while. Now I drive a truck. So much better.
