*Stands up on my fat little feet and applauds. *
Actually I haven't seen many fat people working in Subways. I primarily see skinny weird young men with huge earings.
*pauses and refrains from insulting a few people who just happen to be old and ugly which a diet won't cure*
However, the point of this thread was about tipping at Subway. It's absurd. They don't come to the table, they don't take my order or serve me. They throw some cheese & meat on some bread and wrap it in paper.
My tip to them is: don't expect handouts and stay in school.

THE HELL WITH THAT!! Thats just someone else tryin to get
a truck drivers money. Not a city in china.lol The only reason they
got it in there is its at a truckstop, any other subway they wldnt get
that idea. I think drivers are the ones who deserve tips almost more
then anyone else in this country. And like that other guy said..what for?
-
Everyone expects a tip today

I do not tip anyone
If your career choice requires you beg money from me perhaps you should have chosen a better compensated career
All these beggars drive me nuts
Do your job,get paid
Keeps it simple

I was thinking the same thing. They're not waiters and waitresses. They're getting minimum wage.
Wanna make more ?? Get a better job. Or give me double meat, double cheese without charging me for it.
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I tip servers who actually SERVE in restuarants. I tip my hair stylist and heck I even gave her a Christmas present. I'll tip a valet and I'll tip someone who does something beyond their job for me.
But just as I don't expect someone to tip me for driving those groceries to Wal-Mart or hauling those loads from suppliers to the Wal-mart DC I'm not going to tip someone for just doing their job. -
So you're saying you tip people who don't get paid enough?
It's like..the restaurant needs to pay these people better, they are
already charging you enough for a plate of food. They need to lower
the cost of food by 15% or raise it and not ask for tips. I dont tip
-
That's your choice. I make my own choices.

Most restaurants include the tip in the bill, for large groups.
The vast majority (everyone I know) who wait tables, does not make minimum wage. This is a matter of Federal Law.
So if you don't tip, you short the wait staff. Although I agree if the service sucks...the tip gets really small.
Always calculate the menu price plus 20% +/- depending on where you are, when comparing prices. And DON'T eat there if the cost is too steep for you.
If you want cheap food, McDonald's is open 24/7 in most places. NO tipping required.
People amaze me how they will drive 50 miles one way to eat at a particular restaurant. Then whine over a 15% tip.Ducks, Texas-Nana and woofless Thank this. -
Ok while I will agree that they are charging too much for that food at truck stops it's not the waitresses fault that they set those prices. Some of those waitresses are there as a job to provide them some income as they go thru school, some are there because they actually enjoy that line of work. And you mean to tell me that if a waitress is courteous, professional, gets your food to you in a timely manner and is always there right away to refill your coffee cup that they still shouldn't get tipped? Do you realize that they have to report tips on their income tax? Even when they don't get tipped?
I wholeheartedly agree that no one should tip for bad service. But if you get good service from someone in the service industry then yes I feel they should be rewarded. A friendly reminder... those people remember people who appreciate their service. And those that provide rotten service? Eventually they won't be working there anymore.Last edited: Dec 25, 2009
