again not all leases are bad!!!
"New" is a rather loose term in trucking
My buddys first truck 2007 pete 379 500,00 miles
now he has a brand new prostar when he got it only 47 miles on it.
they do this to see if you really wanna lease a truck why give a guy a brand new truck if he's jsut gunna quit
my friends get well over 3000 miles a week which eqautes to about a $1000 paycheck if you drive tight and do everything right
AGIAN NOT ALL LEASES ARE BAD!!!
and if you dont like that then dont lease but dont go telling other ppl that leases are bad
have you ever leased?

Many L/Os, and soon to be O/Os don't think about these expenses, and only see the gross, or the net after fuel and payments. Many times they get in too deep, not taking into account the other expenses which can wipe out any profits. -
You can buy a truck for less that a lease is. If you buy one then you can take it to any company you would like. Is never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket.
SheepDog Thanks this. -
These guys are pretty open about their #'s, and seem to be doing pretty good for themselves.

NONE of the info I asked about is here. Numbers are meaningless untill ALL expenses, all taxes, mileage, and time on road are accounted for. Saying net means NET, but only a very few list the real net. This puts people that are thinking about doing a L/P, L/O, or otherwise at more of a disadvantage right from the start.
I can pull records for twenty years showing what the loads paid, what I spent on fuel and repair on that load, and the NET. The problem is, that is not the net. There are many more things to be accounted for before the real net is acheived, of which truck payments are only one item. -
I can pull records from 40 years ago when I first went into business for myself, and for every business venture since then. Well I for one think iit's NOYB. If anyone wants to get an Idea of what your FIXED expenses will be go to the other thread, it's spelled out there quite well. As far as unknown costs, they are just that. Giving out my costs to run my business will help no one. The way my wife and I live is totally diferent from anyone else, especially a solo driver. There is money to be made at JCT "IF" a person wants to work. We do not have to be home every weekend. By our own choice we get home every 4 to 5 weeks. We took 3 weeks off in July and went camping, my wife came off the truck December 12th, and I shut it down December 23rd. We will return January 11th. Not too many jobs you can do that. If your business and the way you run it makes you better than me, then so be it. All I know is that in 6 months I will be out of my truck, I won't have to worry about selling it and the hassells that come with it. I just give it back, jump in to my new motor home, and go out there and make life miserable for all you BIG truck drivers.....10-4 good buddyfredE, Alanp613, SheepDog and 1 other person Thank this.
