Yeah go to your local truck parts place or maybe even a trailer place. They should have thin aluminum sheet metal patches they sell that are about 12"×12" square and I think the thickness of them is .030 or maybe .040 They may even have them in other sizes and shapes. It will have a really good adhesive on one side you just peel the wax paper off and slap it on.
Now you might need to take a hammer & dolly and with a helper on the inside of the trailer and you up on top hammer the sheet metal as flat and smooth as you can get it before applying the patch. Then maybe some tin snips to trim the patch or you can probably just slap the whole thing on there without any trimming.
Some people drill holes along the edges of the patch after its on there and put pop rivets in them then I guess they silicone it. I didnt do that. I didnt want a bunch of pop rivets in mine. The adhesive is really good and it never did leak or come off for a couple of years before I got rid of that trailer.

I had that thing patched up yesterday at a shop in OHIO. Piece of aluminum riveted down and some seal around it. I did not object to the method, especially that the guys were available to take me right in and I was still able to find a load back to WI - not losing revenue.
Overall job was $120 and they were kind enough to sell me an almost new crank handle for $10 - mine was about to break in half any time. The fix ain't pretty but I chose a decent load over aesthetics...as long as it holds up...I'll need to get a ladder and check it every now and then...but that's what's you get with any kind of patch.

The morale of story is that one stupid, careless prick at a warehouse can make your day miserable, costing you money and grief. I call him prick because it would have been different had they admitted to the damage...if they did, the story would have been over already. I still did not get any call back from them or anyone in charge to talk about it but I won't let them off the hook until I speak to someone with authority there and hear apologies from them or they will hear f.u. from me. Money is not even an issue here any more. Now, try to accidently damage something on their site....they will come at you running, taking your picture, ID, insurance and what not ... but when they #### up, everyone is quiet and play stupid if asked questions.

The irony is that the load from OH to WI had "cleaning supplies" in the load description, suspiciously 12 000 lbs only...I thought maybe brooms, mops, rugs and sponges...but I pulled out from the dock and what I saw...double stack empty totes maybe 10 inches from the roof....
I think trucking Gods are testing me.PoleCrusher, mp4694330, Lostkeys and 1 other person Thank this. -

I hired a driver yesterday. First one in probably 6 months. Funny thing is it wasn’t from any of my ads. I might as well not advertise at all.
