Become a member of WWW.OOIDA.com which is a business website for the owner-operator.

You are young and idealistic.....that is a good thing. But........work as a Company Driver for at least 2-3 years. Learn how this industry works. Take some Small Business and Accounting classes online during that time. You need to remember.... You will be a Small Business Owner in a very competitive industry with a $#!tload of Rules and Regulations..... not to mention the taxes and accounting knowledge you need to have. Plus.... Your chances of making it past 1 year as a trucker are less than 20%..... and I am being generous with that number. In my humble opinion you are putting the cart about a mile or 2 in front of the horse. Good luck

Your biggest issue is going to be insurance, IF this is where you really want to go, I would look at just getting your own authority.

when I turned 21 I had 3 years intrastate driving, none of it counted as experience for the mega clowns anyways, so driving the box truck isn’t really going to give you a whole lot

And that WON'T be an insurance issue??. Insurance is part of the package Leasing On to a Company. 21 years old, no verifiable experience? Own authority is out of the question. I stick with my advice above.
