Good luck to you! The other members hit on just about everything so I won't repeat that. When I began, I was told to stay out of the truck stop for reasons other than what's necessary. Talking to to other truckers isn't always a good thing. You'll have to be discerning in regards to whom you talk to. Many truckers are miserable, and they will talk bad about whichever company you work for. Don't listen to what people say about CRST or any company you work for because your experience will not mirror anyone else's. You may have a good experience. I think too many people sour on OTR trucking because they listen to the wrong people, and either become influenced negatively, or disillusioned trying to mirror a successful driver's (at least in their estimation) path. Focus on what you're trying to do, which segues into my next thought: do one thing at a time, focus on what's in front of you at that moment. I see too many drivers who begin with their first company and are already looking ahead to greener pastures. It's nothing wrong with wanting more, but this first year should be about learning the industry and honing your skills. The same thought applies while you work. One task at a time. By doing one thing at a time, you will learn how to work in this industry. Having a trucking job is one thing, knowing how to work in this industry is another.
