Hello, I've run into a weird situation where I got a violation with KT even though it worked fine with Qualcomm in the past.
I've basically taken 8 hrs in SB in Canada, which gave me hours, drove about 4 hrs or so, did another 2 hrs in SB and the clocks for Canada and USA were showing I have hours to drive. As soon as I crossed the border, KT marked my Canadian driving hours in red and popped up a violation that read "exceeded 11 hrs of driving time" or something along those lines even though the clock was still showing that I have the USA driving hours I was expecting.
Has anyone encountered anything of this sort before or could explain what happened here? I looked through fmcsa and there's nothing obvious to me as to why this shouldnt work. If I'm in Canada, I'm covered by the Canadian HOS so why is KT flagging my Canadian driving time with a USA violation?
Thanks in advance
Split sleeper with KT landed me a violation

You need to consider that you are on USA regs from the last off duty before the crossing to avoid a penalty at the border.
I found that following US rules if I am on a load crossing the border keeps me from running afoul of the regs on either side if the border.Last edited: Oct 20, 2021

Can you give us the times including the previous day? Without that it's hard to say if the issue is kt, or simply a miscalculation.

What it looks like to me is a miscalculation on your part...
You started at about 3:30 am. That means to hit your 14 hour window at 5:30 pm and cannot drive after that. (US rules).
Taking a split isn't valid as the 14 window is already used up, so there is no extending it with a sleeper at that point. You need a full 10 to make driving after that valid.
At least that's what I'm seeing. I'm sure someone else can look at it and see if I'm correct....Last edited: Oct 21, 2021

You are right. He miscalculated the hours.
