The one question I have is, how do they know if your taking any type of medication such as BP medication, or even diabetic medicine?? The medication does not pop up on the drug screens.

They'll know because you'll be honest enough to tell them about it. :biggrin_25525:

It'll show up in the pre-employment urinalysis - they do the expensive one, so don't even think about trying to cheat it.

I'm not on the road yet but I'm not concerned about telling any one that I have HBP and take medicine for it. As a matter of fact, I will WANT my company to know. In the event I'm incapicitated and unable to give medical history myself, I want someone to know. It's not a matter of skirting the system for me, it's a matter of taking care of myself.

cjvaldez24, Donnyh and Ducks Thank this.

Actually, its a matter of the law. FMCSA regulations require you to disclose any prescription drug use on your medical card application.

Don't get me wrong, I plan to inform the company of my bp medication as well as the diabetic medication i am taking. I'm alittle nervous about disclosing this information, because I'm afraid I might be disqualified.

I'm an experience driver who has been off the road for under a year. I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes last May, but I'm only taking oral medication to control my blood sugar. Does anybody knows Prime's policy regarding diabetes? From what I know, as long as I'm not taking insulin, i'm okay....anybody have any feedbacks??

    Have you seen this?

An individual may apply for an exemption from the diabetes and vision standard, section 391.41(b)(3) and 391.41(b)(10) of the regulation, by utilizing these programs. If you do not currently meet the diabetes and/or vision standard and are unable to obtain a medical card, you may be an eligible candidate.
Please e-mail all questions concerning Driver Exemption Programs to medicalexemptions@dot.gov.

I'd get as much of the stuff you know you're going to need out of the way before you go. If you show up with a permit, and a passport, you're first week will be that much easier. If you come without a passport, I believe they have you apply for one during the first week you are there.

I can't tell you about the training part, but I will say the orientation was the most disorganized orientation I have ever been to. The accommodations was OK, but everything else about orientation was just messed up. Misinformation, no two people had a clue what page they was on. The schedule was not even the same. It was just a total cluster. The first impression I got was if they are this messed up in a orientation setting just how bad are they going to be over all as a company.
